Netflix’s ‘Building the Band‘ is a reality music competition series that breaks all bounds of the genre by having the contestants form their own bands after a round of blind peer auditions. After all, the aim is to combine talent with musical compatibility, connection, and chemistry in the hopes of finding the next big band in the industry, and giving them a head start with a cash prize of $500,000. However, Brianna Mazzola, Nori Royale, and Wennely Quezada never even could have imagined that they would end up in a band they’d name 3Quency and then go on to win the entire experience.
3Quency Shared an Innate, Fateful Spark From Day One
From the moment we first came across 23-year-old Brianna Mazzola, 23-year-old Nori, and 24-year-old Wennely, their talent and musical capabilities were undeniable. However, it was only when they first spoke that their spark came to light, with Brianna and Wennely even realizing that they had auditioned for ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’ together when they were mere teenagers. As if that’s not enough, Wennely and Nori bonded over their shared experiences of dancing before the trio got together and began discussing forming a band. They briefly contemplated adding a fourth member in the form of Bri Gilyard, but they ultimately settled on remaining a trio.
Brianna, Nori, and Wennely’s first performance together was incredible, and they continued this in their First Look before solidifying everything with the band name 3Quency. They hoped that their chemistry would only improve over time, but the reality was much better as they became as close as sisters within weeks. They understood each other’s strengths and weaknesses, made sure to care for and back one another when needed, and were also on the same page about how they wanted to sound and look. They gave each other space to grow, and grow is what they did to an unimaginable extent, which is why the judges crowned them the show’s winners.
Members of 3Quency Already Have Significant Industry Experience
It was back when Brianna, Wennely, and Nori were all relatively young that they developed a passion for music, just for it to drive them to pursue it as a career over time. Nori actually started as a church singer, only to soon realize she wanted to be an artist and began expanding her wings. She did so by taking on acting, songwriting, and modeling, while dedicating herself to stepping into the industry, which resulted in her landing roles in several musical theater productions. However, it wasn’t until she came on ‘Building the Band’ that she sang with a live band for the first time.
Coming to Brianna, she has honestly been dabbling as an actress and singer since she was 11 years old, kickstarting her career with a role in the short film called ‘Lived.’ She then appeared in ‘Welcome to the Special People’s Club’ as well as ‘Another Assembly’ in 2014 and ‘The Greys’ (2015) and ‘Sable’ (2017) before making an appearance ‘Club Mickey Mouse: Mickey Mouse March.’ She had no idea that as time passed and she continued honing her skills, she would be approached by a film producer, which resulted in her becoming a voice actor too – she is actually the voice behind the villain in ‘Trolls: Band Together.’ Since then, though, with the help of her band, she has learned to be herself and not just a character.
As for Wennely, she has had a lot of ups and downs in her career while aspiring to be an original singer-songwriter with an unwavering passion for the beat and rhythm. In fact, she auditioned for ‘The Voice,’ ‘American Idol,’ and several other such music shows across the globe before finding her calling in a bachata band in her hometown, which grounded her more than anything else. She learned to perform there, which she is forever grateful for because it gave her band an edge as her bandmates danced too. In other words, she heard a lot of “No’s” while trying to make a name for herself initially, but now she believed it was meant to happen because she was meant to be in 3Quency.
3Quency Continues to Shine While Making Solid Plans For Their Future
When 3Quency won the astounding $500,000 cash prize, they were left shell-shocked as they had no idea their chemistry would help them make it to the end, let alone win. Nori even pushed herself when she was advised not to, threatening to harm her vocal cords, but their efforts, perseverance, and support for one another eventually paid off. As per reports, it appears as if these bandmates turned friends turned sisters are still determined to keep their band going, possibly reinvesting the $500,000 back into their own brand, using it for studio time to make an album or plan their own independent tour.
It’s true that while Brianna currently resides in Pennsylvania, her bandmates are far away. Wennely is based out of Kansas City, Missouri, whereas Nori is a native of Georgia. Nevertheless, they all seem to be trying to make the move to California together to not only grow closer but also embrace every opportunity that may come their way. Most recently, they even attended and performed at the Netflix Summer Break special, giving them a clue about what their life could soon look like, only for them. Honestly, we can’t wait to see what’s next for them.
