Adrienne Klasky Murder: Where is Michael Graham Now?

In the spring of 1989, the entire community of Pascagoula, Mississippi, was rocked to its core when a mother named Adrienne Klasky was killed. The swift investigation led to the apprehension of the killer, who had fled the scene right after committing the crime. All the intricate details about the case are covered in an extensive manner in the episode titled ‘He’ll Kill Me Next’ of Investigation Discovery’s ‘Evil Lives Here.’ The documentary also features exclusive interviews with the deceased woman’s loved ones and the officials linked to the case.

Adrienne Klasky Was Killed in the Middle of a Traffic Stop in Broad Daylight

On December 12, 1955, Adrienne Klasky Graham was welcomed into the world by a set of loving and caring parents — Lyle Klasky and Barbara Henkle Klasky. Growing up with her sister, Sydney Vivian Klasky, in the Mississippi Gulf Coast city of Pascagoula, Adrienne was described as a fun and loving person. While attending Pascagoula High School, she crossed paths with Michael David Graham, whom she ended up marrying in October 1980. In the following months, the couple gave birth to two sons, Michael and Kevin.

A few years later, the marriage deteriorated for some reason, and the couple got divorced in 1986. After the separation, Adrienne returned to the tight-knit community of her family and friends and worked for her father at Brumfield’s Department Store in Pascagoula as a merchandise manager and buyer. Her life came to an abrupt end on the morning of April 7, 1989, around 10 am, while she was on her way to work. After dropping her mother off at a beauty shop on Jackson Avenue, she was at a traffic stop on Jackson and Pascagoula Streets when she was ambushed and shot to death inside her car. When the authorities arrived at the scene, they found the 33-year-old woman dead from a fatal gunshot wound. With the perpetrator still on the run, the police launched a homicide investigation and pursued the killer.

Adrienne Klasky’s Killer Stalked and Harassed Her For Months Before Killing Her

During Adrienne Klasky’s marriage to Michael David Graham, she confided in her friends and alleged that her husband had been emotionally and physically abusive towards her. After enduring years of alleged abuse, she parted ways with him about six years after the marriage. However, as per reports, Michael continued stalking her and her loved ones, threatening their safety. About eight months after the divorce was finalized, Adrienne managed to obtain a protective order against him, which made him all the more aggressive. It is alleged that he also threatened to kill her multiple times.

When the harassment didn’t subside, she requested another protective order. Michael was then sentenced to ninety days in the Adult Detention Center, but he was released after thirty days. On April 5, Adrienne also reportedly signed papers to have Michael arrested for threatening to kill her. Two days later, he pulled up right next to her vehicle at a traffic stop in downtown Pascagoula, where he shot her to death at point-blank range. Although he fled the scene immediately, he was taken into custody about 15 minutes later. Eventually, he was indicted for the murder of Adrienne Klasky.

Michael Graham Had His Life Sentence Commuted and is Leading a Life of Privacy

About six months after his arrest, on October 9, 1989, Michael David Graham’s murder trial got underway. While the prosecution presented a series of incriminating evidence against the defendant, the defense provided arguments defending the perpetrator. After a couple of days of trial, the jury deliberated for a while and on October 10, found him guilty of killing Adrienne Klasky. Ultimately, Michael was sentenced to life in prison for the murder. A couple of days later, he filed a motion requesting a retrial, claiming that the court denied his request to intruct the jury on the lesser-included offense of manslaughter. However, his appeal was rejected a few months later, in February 1990. In the following years, he was denied a parole hearing on three occasions.

On April 4, 2004, Michael was reportedly transferred to the Governor’s mansion, where he served as a trustee. Considering his service for a few years, in July 2008, Governor Haley Barbour granted an indefinite suspension of his sentence and released him from prison, without contacting the parole board or Adrienne’s family and friends. However, he was ordered to stay out of Pascagoula and Jackson County. Following the controversial decision, Adrienne’s loved ones, law enforcement officers, victim advocates, and others pleaded with the Governor through calls and letters to reverse his decision to commute Michael’s sentence. By 2012, Michael was granted a full pardon with no restrictions, regaining the right to vote, live anywhere, and carry a weapon. As of today, he remains free but leads a private life, away from the limelight.
