Lifetime will soon bring a renowned TV personality’s life to the screen! Moviedelic can reveal that the network has ordered Alana Thompson’s biopic ‘I Was Honey Boo Boo.’ Katie Boland will helm the movie. The film will enter production in Bournemouth, England, in March 2025.
The biopic will delve into the life of Thompson, who first gained national attention as a child pageant princess in the reality show ‘Toddlers & Tiaras.’ Her rise to fame accelerated when she became the star of ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,’ a reality series that showcased her unique personality and her close-knit family. As a child, Thompson became a pop culture sensation, known for her catchphrases and candid nature, which resonated with a wide audience.
The film will also explore Thompson’s transition from a pageant queen to a television star, focusing on her relationship with her mother, “Mama June,” and the challenges of growing up under public scrutiny. The narrative may touch on the family’s struggles, including personal issues and the impact of fame on their lives.
Boland has previously directed several projects for Lifetime, including ‘Yoga Teacher Killer: The Kaitlin Armstrong Story,’ ‘Abducted Off the Street: The Carlesha Gaither Story,’ and ‘Jailbreak Lovers.’ Her credits further include the drama movie ‘We’re All in This Together.’ Apart from these projects, she has also directed five episodes of the detective series ‘Murdoch Mysteries.’
