From the moment Alison Ogden first came across our screens on Netflix’s ‘Building the Band,’ her ambition and confidence were extremely evident. She was determined to be the lead in her own girl group, and the way she went about it honestly left fans divided. However, no one could have ever expected that another aspect involving her would leave the fans polarized, and that’s her budding romance with fellow cast member and new boy band member Conor Smith. Neither expected the romance, but the sparks were flying.
Alison and Conor’s Dates Caused a Lot of Tension in One Band
The moment all the bands first came across one another before their First Look, Conor felt a pull towards Alison owing to her sheer beauty and how she carried herself. He could see she was extremely confident in who she is, which was really attractive to him, and so was the fact that she shared similar dreams. Little did he know his attraction was reciprocated because although Alison played it cool in front of him, her new bandmates could see she genuinely liked him too. Therefore, of course, when he asked her to hang out one-on-one after discussing it with his own bandmates, promising to still focus on the competition too, she said yes.
Unfortunately, though, as Alison and Conor got to know one another on a deeper level, they talked until late at night, and that affected the latter during his rehearsals the next day. As if that’s not enough, this continued another day as he spent the night at her place despite the fact that all the bands’ First Showcase was just 2 days away, leaving his band frustrated. They couldn’t rehearse properly without him, so they confronted him about it as politely as possible, but it still made him feel ganged up on, and he almost quit. Thankfully, though, they all managed to talk things out, and Sweet Seduction and Midnight ‘Till Morning managed to compete at the next level.
Alison and Conor Are Seemingly Not Involved in Any Manner
After Conor said he couldn’t continue on as a part of Midnight ‘Til Morning, his bandmates were left shattered and scared, but they gave him some time before returning to the conversation. They made it clear that all they wanted was for him to be focused on the competition for now, as they were still trying to find their voice and footing together as a group. They didn’t want him to sacrifice his happiness since it was evident he thought Alison is a “lovely girl,” but they wanted the band to be the priority for a while, and Conor was able to see their side. He thanked them for still accepting him and giving him grace, accepting that he had lost sight of what was important.
With Conor’s admission, the focus shifted back to the bands and their chemistry rather than the one he shared with Alison, and it seemingly dwindled down not long after. Alison herself had made it clear she is never really looking for a boyfriend but is open to connections if they come her way, so it seems like the lack of long-term intention from both sides led to all romantic feelings drifting away. Thus, it appears as if neither Alison nor Conor ever even tried to rekindle their connection after the show’s filming concluded, backed by the fact that there seems to be no contact between them as of writing. In fact, they don’t even follow one another on their respective social media pages.
Alison and Conor Are Wholly Dedicated to Their Music Career
Although Alison has been dreaming about becoming a professional singer since she was merely 2½ years old, it wasn’t until she was in her early 20s that she released her debut single. “Loving Me” came out on February 12, 2021, and she followed it up with a second single in 2023, a stint on ‘American Idol’ season 21, and two more singles, all the while also evolving into an online personality. Most recently, though, on February 28, 2025, she released her fifth single, “Sweet Surrender,” following which she announced her first set of music videos, an actual album, and much more. In other words, she continues to focus on her solo music journey, and we can’t wait to see what’s in the cards for her.
Coming to Conor, the former ‘The Voice Australia’ season 8 and ‘Australian Idol’ season 9 contestant also remains utterly passionate about his craft as a singer-songwriter at the moment. He seemingly hasn’t really released any solo stuff until now, but he has done several gigs across his homeland of Australia and in Los Angeles, California, where he is now based. Yet, today, his focus primarily seems to be on his pop-rock boy band Midnight ‘Til Morning, with whom he hopes to establish a sort of unique legacy in the music industry. Honestly, they have the chemistry and the talent to make it big, so we can’t wait to see how things unfold.
