Filming for Season 3 of ‘All American: Homecoming’ is set to commence in Los Angeles in January 2024. Initially scheduled for The CW’s fall 2023 lineup, the premiere of the third edition was delayed. ‘All American: Homecoming’ is a sports drama television series crafted by Nkechi Okoro Carroll, serving as a spin-off of the original series, ‘All American.’
In Homecoming, Simone Hicks makes a significant move, leaving her boyfriend Jordan in Los Angeles to enroll at Bringston University, a historically black college situated in Atlanta, Georgia. Her aspiration at the university is to chase her dream of becoming a professional tennis player. Joining her on this collegiate journey is Damon Sims, a fellow freshman navigating the college scene with ambitions of playing baseball for the university. Damon deliberately turns down an MLB draft opportunity to continue pursuing baseball at Bringston, guided by his coach, Marcus Turner.
In a surprising turn of events during the season 2 finale, ‘All American: Homecoming’ shocked viewers by revealing that Simone and Damon took their relationship to a more intimate level. The fan-favorite couple, referred to as “Dimone” by viewers, left Simone, currently dating Lando, torn between her romantic choices. Geffri Maya, who plays Simone, expressed reservations about the characters getting together due to the personal challenges they still need to navigate. Besides the romantic twists, JR addressed health issues, Nate won her presidential campaign, and the episode concluded with the revelation that Marcus, who is dating Amara, is actually married. This unexpected twist was introduced to add complexity to Marcus and Amara’s relationship, promising further exploration in potential future seasons.
The central ensemble is anticipated to make a return for the upcoming third season, although there will be modifications in the roles of certain members. Peyton Alex Smith and Kelly Jenrette are set to transition from series regulars to recurring cast members. The primary cast comprises Geffri Maya as Simone Hicks, Sylvester Powell as JR Raymond, Netta Walker as Keisha McCalla, Mitchell Edwards as Cam Watkins, Cory Hardrict as Marcus Turner (with a reduced number of episode appearances), and Rhoyle Ivy King as Nathaniel Hardin (also with reduced episode appearances). The standing of Camille Hyde as Thea Mays remains uncertain, whether she will retain a series regular or recurring cast status.
Nkechi Okoro Carroll spearheads the creation of the television production, supported by executive producers David Madden, Robbie Rogers, Sarah Schechter, Greg Berlanti, Lindsay Dunn, and Marqui Jackson.
With the filming commencing in January 2024, the forthcoming season is projected for an April release, though an official date remains undisclosed at present. While the show is grounded in Atlanta, Georgia, filming is set to unfold in the vibrant cinematic landscape of Los Angeles, echoing the city’s prominence in recent notable releases like ‘The Killer’ and ‘Oppenheimer.’ Stay tuned for further updates as the production unfolds.
