And Just Like That: Do Mia and Brady End Up Together? Will They Raise the Baby Together?

In ‘And Just Like That’ season 3, Miranda finds herself in a scenario she never could’ve expected. Her teenage son, Brady, seems to have gotten a girl pregnant. However, the real trouble remains in the eclectic relationship between him and the mother of his unborn child. Although the young girl, Mia, has decided to keep and raise the baby, she doesn’t want any involvement from the father. In fact, from the look of things, the two have little interest in each other outside of their inciting hook-up. While Brady fails to see the gravity of the situation, Miranda and her ex-husband, Steve, remain much more concerned about the possibility of not having a relationship with their future grandkid. As a result, the grandma-to-be inevitably squirms her way onto Mia’s path in some less-than-usual ways. Thus, one can’t help but wonder if her strange methods somehow end up bringing the two parents-to-be together? SPOILERS AHEAD!

Mia and Brady’s Disastrous Thanksgiving Reunion

Miranda’s initial visit to the salon Mia works at leaves much to be desired. Off-the-bat, she keeps her relationship with Brady a secret, instead opting for an unnecessary incognito mission. Her son had already told her that Mia doesn’t want him involved in her or her baby’s life. While Miranda is worried about this, she also can’t help but wonder about the certainty of her son being the father of this woman’s child. For the same reason, during her undercover visit, she tries to pry out some information from the young woman. Naturally, the plan crashes and burns once Mia realizes exactly who Miranda is, which complicates the potential of her relationship with Brady even further. Nonetheless, all isn’t lost.

The next day, Miranda stops by the salon again to apologize and somehow ends up inviting Mia over for Thanksgiving at her place. Since the latter has no plans with her own family, she accepts the invitation along with a couple of her friends. Although the turn of events surprises the older woman, she’s happy enough with the situation. The same, of course, cannot be said for her son. Unlike his parents, Brady doesn’t have many complicated feelings toward Mia. He’s willing to accept her decision and stay out of her and her baby’s life. For the same reason, he’s angry at her mother for crossing his boundaries and meeting up with Mia behind his back. Still, in the end, he has to bite the bullet and spend Thanksgiving with the pregnant woman and her friends. Nonetheless, Miranda’s schemes light up no unexpected sparks, and the two remain as incompatible and uninterested in each other as ever.

Brady and Mia Remain Unattached, But the Latter Warms up to Miranda

In the end, the Thanksgiving dinner doesn’t prove to be a magical point of connection for Brady and Mia. The pair have no real interest in one and, in fact, seem to get on the others’ nerves with ease. Inversely, despite their hostile beginning, Mia and Miranda manage to find some common ground. The latter’s warm invitation on a holiday that would have otherwise been a lonely one for the young woman seems to earn the older woman some cookie points. Therefore, even though Mia still has no intention of giving her relationship with Brady a real try, she’s more open to forming connections with his family. This means that even if the father ends up being less involved, Miranda and Steve might just get their wish and continue to be a part of their grandkid’s life.

The decision to leave Brady and Mia’s relationship open-ended, with no real romantic development, serves to underline the young and naive disposition of the expecting parents. Mia’s pregnancy is a result of a reckless decision to engage in unsafe sex. However, in their continued recklessness, the two teenagers fail to grasp the severity of their realities. Neither seems to realize how entirely their lives will be upheaved by the addition of a baby. Consequently, they’re more relaxed and nonchalant about the situation compared to Miranda and Steve, who are intimately aware of the responsibilities of parenthood. Ultimately, Miranda’s efforts contribute toward the possibility of her own presence in her grandkid’s life. Therefore, there’s always a possibility that inevitable proximity will warm Mia up to Brady as well. Nonetheless, from the duo’s past interactions, it’s clear that even if they end up co-parenting the baby in the future, the chances of them developing a romance of their own remain slim to none.
