The episode titled ‘The Kansas Pawnshop’ of Investigation Discovery’s ‘See No Evil’ chronicles the horrific murder of a 56-year-old man named Michael Andrew “Andy” McGuffee in October 2021. As the investigation progressed, the detectives uncovered some dark family secrets and a financial motive behind the killing. The documentary also consists of exclusive interviews with Andy’s loved ones and the officials linked to the investigation.
Andy McGuffee Was Found Dead in His Oklahoma Residence Amid a Suspicious Fire
Born on July 4, 1965, Michael Andrew “Andy” McGuffee grew up to be a warm and kind-hearted man who loved animals. Apart from being a helpful neighbor, he loved spending time with chickens and goats. He was also a devoted husband to Angela McGuffee, whom he considered his everything. According to reports, Andy was a doting father to a daughter named Meagan. He also had a half-sister named Debbie Senft. In his spare time, Andy preferred to stay closer to nature and frequently went fishing on the lake. Before meeting his demise, he had remodeled the interior of his residence, including custom woodwork and custom cabinetry.

Andy’s mere presence could light up even the dullest rooms, making him a valuable part of the community. In October 2021, Angela was hospitalized after being diagnosed with COVID-19. While recovering, she stayed at a relative’s house, where Andy was supposed to pick her up on October 15, 2021. Concerns in the hearts of his loved ones mounted as he didn’t show up at work. His wife asked a family member to perform a welfare check at his Blanchard house. When the relative reached the property, they immediately called the police as it was up in flames and the 56-year-old man was inside.
As the authorities entered the partially burned house, they discovered that Andy had sadly passed away. However, upon examining his charred remains, it was noted that the injuries he sustained were indicative of a homicide, including multiple stab wounds. When the detectives inspected the crime scene, they noticed that several items were missing or stolen from the residence, including his pickup truck. Taking the help of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) investigators, they determined that the fire didn’t have a natural source and was actually started by someone on purpose. Thus, a homicide investigation was launched as the detectives followed a trail of evidence to apprehend the perpetrator/s.
The Sale of Stolen Items Helped the Police Track Down Andy’s Killers
During the investigation, the detectives were able to locate several missing items from Andy McGuffee’s house in a pawn shop in Salina, Kansas. As for his pickup truck, it was discovered at a car wash off of I-35 and 89th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. On top of that, upon going through Andy’s cell phone records, they found that he had been talking to his half-sister, Debbie Senft. In one of the text messages, Debbie had written, “You have always been one of the two most important people in the world to me and I love you so much. I would really like to be able to see you and spend some time with you.”
As they connected Debbie to the pawn shop and the text messages, the authorities zeroed in on her and learned that she was in Wyoming. Working with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the OSCI investigators managed to locate her and her son, Zachary Mussett, in a truck on I-80, 15 miles east of the city of Rock Springs, Wyoming. On October 22, 2021, the suspects were pulled over and taken into custody for their possible involvement in the murder of Andy McGuffee. During his interview, Zachary claimed that he and Debbie had gone to Andy’s house, where they ate, talked, and watched movies.
He further told the detectives that he and his mother left the house after a while. Zachary also hinted at the possibility of them leaving in Andy’s pickup truck. As per the investigators, during their move from Texas to Oregon, the mother-son duo stopped by Andy’s Blanchard house, where they killed him and stole his valuable possessions. After setting the property on fire, they reportedly fled the scene in his pickup truck and pawned the stolen items in Kansas. Debbie and Zachary, residents of Texarkana, Texas, were charged with one count of murder in the first degree and one count of arson in the first degree, and held without bond in Sweetwater County, Wyoming.
Debbie and Zachary Are Incarcerated at Different Oklahoma Prison Facilities Today
More than a year later, on February 24, 2023, both Debbie Senft and Zachary Mussett were convicted of first-degree murder and first-degree arson in connection with the brutal death of Andy McGuffee. The jury also recommended a life imprisonment sentence for both convicts. The following month, the mother and son were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder charge. On top of that, both of them also received an additional 35-year imprisonment sentence for the arson charge. As of today, Debbie Senft is incarcerated at Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in McLoud, Oklahoma, while 29-year-old Zachary Mussett is serving his sentence at Allen Gamble Correctional Center in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
