In the spring of 2017, Angela Boggs and her family, including her live-in boyfriend and children, met their unfortunate demise inside their house in Arkon, Ohio. The tragedy sent shockwaves across the entire community and sparked an investigation that eventually led to an unlikely perpetrator. Investigation Discovery’s ‘Evil Lives Here: Like a Monster From the Movies’ chronicles the case and the complicated investigation that ensued in a detailed manner, with the help of insightful and emotional interviews with Angela’s loved ones and the officials linked to the case.
Angela Boggs Died With Several Family Members in Her Arkon Residence
Born on May 17, 1978, Angela Priebe Boggs was about 20 years old when she tied the knot with Patrick Boggs in 1998. They seemingly welcomed two children into the world — Brittany and Jared Boggs. However, their marriage began showing signs of deterioration soon, and eventually, the couple got divorced. A few years later, she crossed paths with an electrician named Dennis Huggins, a single father to Tyennys Huggins, through the latter’s older brother, Durand. As sparks flew between them, they started dating and gave birth to multiple children, including Cameron, Alivia, Kylle, and Daisia. In the following years, Angela and Dennis treated all of their children, including three from their previous relationships, with immense love and care.

After working at the Portage Kidney Center on Devon Place in Kent, Ohio, Angela served as a dialysis technician for a national kidney disease care company called DaVita. The couple had been looking forward to seeing their children achieve success, but fate had other plans. On May 15, 2017, their home at 693 Fultz Street in Akron, Ohio, was set ablaze, resulting in the tragic deaths of Angela, Dennis, their dog, and five of their children — 1-year-old Cameron, 3-year-old Alivia, 5-year-old Kylle, 6-year-old Daisia, and 14-year-old Jared. At the time, Brittany and Tyennys were not home. Despite the best efforts from the firefighters, they weren’t able to save the family. It turned out that 38-year-old Angela was 4-5 months pregnant at the time. The autopsy revealed that the cause of death was smoke inhalation. Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, an investigation was launched.
Angela Boggs’ Killer Was Linked to More Arson Cases
As part of the investigation, the authorities dug deep into the life of Angela Boggs and learned that her marriage with Patrick Boggs was more than just rocky. After their marriage in the late 1990s, Patrick reportedly got into drugs and alcohol and was violent with her. In February 2001, he reportedly poured kerosene on her body inside their mobile home in the 5700 block of State Route 5 in Charlestown Township and threatened to set her and the trailer on fire with a lighter. Reportedly, he was angry at her for talking on the phone with a man she met at her workplace. Later in the same year, Patrick was convicted of aggravated arson, assault, and domestic violence and sentenced to 12 years and three months in prison.

Released from prison in July 2013, Patrick was considered a possible suspect in the arson killing of his ex-wife and her family. He was taken into custody for a suspected parole violation a few days after the fire in May 2017. While in custody, he reportedly claimed that he had started the fire that killed Angela and her family. However, upon interviewing him, the confession was discredited, and he was eliminated as a suspect. The detectives then turned their attention to one of Angela Boggs’ neighbors, Stanley Ford. During his interview, he denied having anything to do with the fire and claimed that he was in his house sleeping at the time while his wife called 911. The investigators showed him surveillance footage of him going into his apartment after Angela’s house was set on fire and before his wife called 911.

On May 23, 2017, he was ultimately charged with aggravated murder and arson. He was also linked to another deadly arson in April 2016 on Fultz Street that led to the demise of Lindell Lewis and Gloria Jean Hart and a vehicle arson in January 2017 on Russell Avenue. By July 2018, he was charged with 22 counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder, two counts of aggravated arson, one count of cruelty to animals, one count of arson, and one count of aggravated menacing. On the other hand, Angela’s ex-husband, Patrick Boggs, was charged with the attempted murder of another woman on March 10, 2021, after he was taken into custody at a discount store in Ravenna.
Stanley Ford and Patrick Boggs Are Currently Incarcerated at Separate Ohio Prison Facilities

In March 2020, Stanley Ford’s first trial commenced, but it resulted in a mistrial in June after several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More than a year later, on August 30, 2021, his second trial began. The prosecution presented critical pieces of evidence against the defendant, including security alarm records, surveillance footage, and testimony from neighbors. Meanwhile, the defense argued that the authorities should also consider looking into other potential suspects and urged the jurors not to rush to any judgment. About three weeks later, the jury deliberated and returned with a guilty verdict.

On September 21, Stanley was convicted of more than 24 charges, including nine counts of aggravated murder, aggravated arson, and attempted aggravated murder. More than a month later, on October 26, the Akron man was formally sentenced to life in prison. During his sentencing, several loved ones of his victims took the stand and addressed him directly. As for Patrick Boggs, he pleaded guilty to first-degree felony attempted murder with a repeat violent offender specification on August 18, 2021. Ultimately, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He could serve an additional five and a half years if he behaves inappropriately during his time in prison. As of today, Stanley is serving his sentence at Richland Correctional Institution in Mansfield, Ohio, while Patrick is incarcerated at Lake Erie Correctional Institution in Conneaut, Ohio, with his parole eligibility date scheduled for March 2033.
