Annjeanette Whaley Update: Where is the 600lb Star Now?

TLC’s ‘My 600-Lb Life: Where Are They Now?’ follows participants beyond their initial weight-loss surgery and shows what life truly looks like after the cameras first stop rolling. The series is important because it highlights the long-term realities of recovery, including emotional struggles, lifestyle adjustments, and setbacks that often arise well after surgery. In season seven, Annjeanette Whaley began her journey in Texas under the care of Dr. Younan Nowzaradan. Although personal difficulties and relationship issues disrupted her progress, she remained determined to continue and knew that staying committed to her health was essential regardless of what else was happening in her life.

Annjeanette Whaley Continued With Her Weight-Loss Journey After Leaving Texas

After undergoing bariatric surgery, Annjeanette Whaley did not experience the level of weight loss she had hoped for. She remained above 400 pounds, and Dr. Younan Nowzaradan made it clear that she would need to push herself harder to see meaningful progress. A major obstacle during this time was the emotional toll of her breakup with her girlfriend, Erica Andino. Being separated from Erica weighed heavily on her, affecting both her motivation and mental health. Life in Texas, where Annjeanette had relocated to receive treatment, became increasingly difficult. She lacked a reliable support system and found herself struggling to cope with the isolation.

Although she continued to follow her diet plan and attempted to stay on track, the results were limited, and she began to feel overwhelmed. Recognizing that the situation was unsustainable, Annjeanette spoke with Dr. Nowzaradan about transferring her care back to Oregon, where she felt she might have more stability. Her doctor was hesitant, given that Oregon was where her weight had once reached nearly 700 pounds and where she had previously struggled to remain consistent with therapy. There were also concerns about whether she would continue her psychological treatment. Despite these reservations, Annjeanette felt confident that returning home was the right decision for her well-being.

She successfully made the journey back to Oregon, something she could not have imagined doing just a year earlier, and took pride in that accomplishment. She stayed with her sister, rebuilt her support network, and reunited with Erica. The couple decided to reconcile, and with renewed emotional stability, Annjeanette recommitted herself to her weight-loss goals. Focused and hopeful, she continued working toward further progress, including the possibility of skin removal surgery in the future.

Annjeanette Whaley Lost the Lawsuit Against Megalomedia

In the years since Annjeanette Whaley appeared on the series, her post-show journey has been complex and, at times, difficult. In April 2020, she joined other former participants in filing a lawsuit against the show’s production company, Megalomedia. The suit alleged gross negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and fraud. Annjeanette alleged that she had been required to follow extremely restrictive diets without receiving adequate medical oversight or proper psychological counseling, which she said caused her harm during and after filming. The legal battle continued for nearly two years. In 2022, however, the Corpus Christi Court of Appeals dismissed the lawsuit. The court ruled in favor of the production company, meaning Megalomedia was not found liable and was not required to pay damages or compensation related to the claims.

Following the dismissal, the case effectively came to an end. Outside of the courtroom, Annjeanette has remained vocal about her experiences. She has openly addressed public scrutiny and has, on several occasions, spoken out against online judgment and intrusive commentary about her personal life. Rather than retreating, she has asserted boundaries and defended her right to live on her own terms. Despite the challenges, Annjeanette has continued prioritizing her health and well-being. She has maintained a healthier lifestyle and focused on stability rather than public attention. Today, she is settled in Hillsboro, Oregon, where she leads a quieter life away from television.

Annjeanette Whaley is Happily Married to Erica Andino Today

In October 2022, Annjeanette married Erica Andino in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by her family and the people who love her the most. After their wedding, Annjeanette took Erica’s last name and started a new chapter built on commitment. The two have focused on creating a calm, supportive home life. Living close to extended family has allowed them to feel rooted and supported, and they often spend time together celebrating holidays, milestones, and everyday moments. Their marriage reflects a partnership shaped by lived experience, patience, and a clear understanding of what they need from one another.

Equally important to Annjeanette is her bond with her sister, Vanessa Haley, who has long been her closest confidante and best friend. Their relationship has remained strong through every phase of Annjeanette’s life. Annjeanette also shares a deep connection with her nieces and nephews, whom she has always adored and treated with the same care and devotion as her own children. In addition, she is a devoted mother to two sons from a previous relationship. Reuniting with them and celebrating Halloween together in 2023 after a long time apart was especially meaningful and reinforced how central family remains to her sense of happiness and purpose.
