April Price: What Happened to Stephen Collins Accuser?

At the height of his fame and success in showbiz, Stephen Collins became a household name until his legacy was tarnished by the revelation of details about his sexual conduct with three underage girls between the 1970s and 1990s, something he admitted to several years later. One of the girls who claims to have faced inappropriate behavior from the actor was April Price in the 1980s. She talked about her encounters with Stephen in detail in the episode titled ‘Stephen Collins, America’s Dad’ of Investigation Discovery’s ‘Hollywood Demons.’ The documentary also sheds light on other instances of alleged misconduct of which he is accused.

April Price Alleged That Stephen Collins Exposed Himself to Her Multiple Times

Born around 1970 in Oklahoma, April Price grew up to be fascinated with Hollywood and had a deep-rooted appreciation for the art of filmmaking. In the summer of 1983, the 13-year-old girl traveled to Los Angeles, California, where she stayed with her aunt Cindy Akins, who was a commercial producer at the time. One of the days, April got the chance to go to the production company and on the set with her aunt. Being a fan of ‘Tales of the Gold Monkey,’ she became excited to learn that the star of the show, Stephen Collins, lived next door to Cindy. After mustering enough courage, she knocked on his door and managed to get a signed headshot from him. A few days later, the teenage girl claimed that she saw Stephen walking in the building’s courtyard without any clothes on and with laundry in his hands.

According to April, she approached him when she needed help to set up her Atari gaming system. After its installation, she said he exposed himself to her, leaving her extremely uncomfortable and traumatized. Another strange incident allegedly followed the same summer when April said Stephen invited her over to his house to showcase memorabilia from ‘Tales of the Gold Monkey.’ Not long after, she alleged, he once again exposed himself to her, but she managed to get out of the situation when she saw her aunt return home through a window. She opened up about it in an interview with Fox News Digital, adding that he tried to justify his behavior after the alleged incident occurred.

“I was mentally just making every excuse in the world. This is his place, this is where he lives. Maybe this is just something he does. This is something I have to get used to. I just honestly didn’t know how to even comprehend what had happened. I was also still making excuses because he was a good-looking movie star and I didn’t want to offend him,” she recounted. Nearly 15 years later, in 1997, their paths collided again during a commercial production while she worked at a craft services company. That encounter turned out to be different as April said he apologized to her for his alleged behavior. She was relieved at the time, but in hindsight, she thought the apology was far from sincere. She said, “I think it was damage control because all of the sudden here is one of my little indiscretions that I shouldn’t have done, who could hurt my career.”

April Price Spoke Up About Stephen’s Alleged Inappropriate Behavior After Decades

In October 2014, Stephen Collins’ recorded conversation with his therapist and then-wife, Faye Grant, was leaked by TMZ. It was from a 2012 joint therapy session where the Hollywood star confessed to making inappropriate and sexual advances towards three minor girls between 1973 and 1994, reportedly including April during the summer of 1983. Soon, he was interviewed by Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric, where he admitted to the accusations against him in a clever manner. After the interview, April reported that she was one of the girls Stephen talked about and reached out to two detectives about the 1983 incidents.

After getting married and becoming a mother herself, April decided to go public about her claims and alleged that Stephen exposed himself to her on numerous occasions when she was a teenager. During a conversation with Fox News Digital, she explained why she finally spoke out about it. She said, “I’m a mother now. I could push it to the side and not think about it. But as a mother, I would hope that my child would be able to come forward to me if anything happened to him that made him feel uncomfortable, victimized or endangered in any way. I’m hoping that my voice will lend strength to other people, maybe in the same instances where they don’t feel as comfortable speaking about something deeply uncomfortable or unsettling in their life.”
