Why Did Audrey Leave Dance Moms?

Audrey Brudner, who previously led Studio Bleu’s Junior Elite Team, entered Hulu’s ‘Dance Moms: A New Era’ season 2 as the standout front-and-center dancer for Glo Hampton’s new Project X Dance Company. Her strong technique and confidence initially positioned her as one of the team’s anchors. However, as the season progressed, Audrey encountered personal challenges that disrupted her momentum and made her place within the group feel less secure. These struggles raised questions among viewers and fellow moms about whether she would be able to maintain her spot, or even continue, with the demanding Project X team moving forward.

Audrey Brudner Could Not Keep Up With the Intensity of the Competitions

Audrina “Audrey” Brudner began the season with her usual confidence and immediately earned praise from Glo Hampton for her leadership and the way her energy elevated the entire Project X Elite team. With her polished technique, musicality, and clear command of choreography, she appeared to be the dancer the group couldn’t function without. But everything shifted when her mother, Tammi Brudner, revealed that Audrey was navigating the emotional impact of her parents’ divorce. The strain of this transition soon became visible. Her choreographers noticed her losing focus in class, experiencing moments of overwhelm, and breaking down under pressure, even as she continued pushing forward.

Despite these challenges, Audrey found comfort in her faith and spoke openly about turning to Christianity for strength. She even performed a solo during this period and she ultimately won that as well. However, the ongoing stress of the competitive environment proved difficult to manage. At one point, Audrey told Glo that she couldn’t keep up and would be stepping away from the team. Yet, only days later, she returned, apologizing to her teammates and admitting that dance meant too much to walk away from outright.

As the season neared its end, the burden shifted to Tammi, who admitted she was struggling to balance her own emotional health while supporting Audrey’s demanding dance schedule. At the same time, Glo observed that the team was beginning to stabilize and succeed even without Audrey in every routine and it led to discussions about whether this might be the right moment for a reset. Ultimately, Tammi made the difficult decision to pull Audrey from the company. Audrey did not return for nationals, and her absence suggested that she had quietly closed this chapter of her competitive dance journey.

Audrey Brudner is Still a Part of Project X Dance Company

It appears that Audrey Brudner has not left Project X Dance Company and continues to be part of the Project X Elites. Audrey holds a special place in Glo Hampton’s heart, not only because she has trained her since childhood, but also because Glo and her daughter once lived in the basement apartment of Audrey’s home, creating a long-standing bond that goes far beyond the studio. Despite the emotional challenges Audrey faced during filming, she has kept dancing with the team and remained active in the competitive circuit.

In October 2025, Audrey even met JoJo Siwa during an industry event, a moment that motivated her further. She has continued to collaborate, rehearse, and train alongside her close friends from the team. While the past year brought significant upheaval for both Audrey and Tammi, it seems they have found a more stable rhythm. Tammi, too, seems to have settled into a better place emotionally, allowing her to fully support Audrey again. Together, they appear ready to continue their journey with Project X with a passion for dance and entertainment.
