Netflix’s ‘Bad Influencer’ explores the dangerous world of counterfeit luxury goods in Johannesburg through the intertwined lives of two women. BK, a single mother burdened by debt and threats from loan sharks, supports herself by creating and selling fake designer bags to affluent clients. Her path crosses with “Qween Pinks,” a social media influencer. Recognizing the potential for greater profit, BK teams up with Qween Pinks. In this partnership, the influencer uses her online popularity to promote the counterfeit bags, while BK handles their design and production. Unbeknownst to BK and Qween Pinks, AKA Pinky, there are other players lurking in the shadows of the city. Due to her personal romantic connection with Themba, BK finds it difficult to separate her personal and professional lives.
Towards the end of season 1, BK becomes trapped between the cops and the criminals. The “Moghel Slay” identity that the two women created no longer remains anonymous. Despite the cops promising BK immunity, they end up giving immunity only to Pinky, Lelz, and the Barlos couple. The story of the first season concludes with BK being charged and then incarcerated due to her crimes. The point at which the first season ends leaves the viewers wanting more. Despite no official announcements about the renewal of the show for a new season, fans can expect ‘Bad Influencer’ season 2 to start streaming in 2027, if there is a timely renewal.
Bad Influencer May Deal With BK’s Future Post Incarceration
The storyline of season 1 of ‘Bad Influencer’ concludes with the incarceration of BK, who is sentenced to two years for her role in counterfeiting. She is distant from Leo, Themba, and most importantly, Pinky. However, one of the greater twists in the tale comes towards the very end of the season, where it is revealed that Bra Flames, the boss of Bra Alex, holds sway within the prison. He secretly calls BK with the help of another inmate. The gangster tells her to remember who she is working for, as she stares at a picture of Leo on the wall of her prison cell. This indicates that BK will head some kind of prison crime system, which would serve the interests of Flames. She is also acknowledged by the other ladies in the prison. Thus, season 2 might start right after BK’s incarceration.
It is highly likely that the new season would deal with the inner workings of the prison and also explore how Flames managed to establish a hold. Once BK starts to understand the mysteries of the prison, she might be able to deal with other questions, like the safety of her family. It will also be interesting to see what kind of criminal activity BK will be involved in within the prison system. Since the fake luxury bag business looks out of reach, Flames may force her to do other things, like snuggling or trafficking.
It would be difficult for her to pursue an earlier parole or a reduced sentence for good behavior, as she will not be allowed to stay peacefully. Bad Influencer Might Introduce Fascinating New Characters
‘Bad Influencer’ focuses on interesting and adrenaline-pumping Storylines, which are made possible by an ensemble cast portraying complex characters. The influencers, the cops, the gangsters, and the others play an important role in the narrative. As such, if the show gets renewed for season 2, the viewers can expect most of the main cast members to return. Most importantly, this would include Jo-Anne Reyneke as BK, the protagonist of the story. She will presumably be joined by Cindy Mahlangu, portraying the role of Pinky AKA Qween Pink, who will have an interesting dynamic with the protagonist. Thapelo Mokoena would return to play the complex role of Themba, the cop. Mpilo Shabalala will likely reprise his role as Leo, the curious son of BK. Viewers can expect the aforementioned actors to return for a new season.
As such, Modise Motaung (Bheki), Kamohelo Pule (Lelz), Zozibini Tunzi (Noami), and Hamilton Dlamini (Flames) may also reprise their unique roles in a new season. On the other hand, characters like Bra Alex, who have met their end, may not return for a new season. Thus, Vincent Mahlape may not return for a new season, except in possible flashback sequences. Now that BK has been imprisoned, and Flames controls the system, season 2 might introduce a number of new characters who will likely compete for influence in the counterfeiting market of Johannesburg.
Bad Influencer Season 2 Might Reveal Several Layers
The future of ‘Bad Influencer’ is unknown due to the absence of official updates or any indications about a possible renewal.
