Bad Monkey: Is Candy Chest an Actual Cloth Store in Key West?

In the third episode of Apple TV+’s crime drama series ‘Bad Monkey,’ Andrew Yancy shows up at Chest Candy, a cloth store in Key West, Florida, to meet Madeline, the girlfriend of Phinney, who stages the “discovery” of Nick Stripling’s hand. The shop stands out with the extravagant clothing materials sold there. The outrageous dress collection inspires Rosa Campesino to propose buying something for her investigative partner. Key West is filled with striking stores that sell appealing clothes that encapsulate the essence of Florida. However, viewers who are eager to shop in Chest Candy can only be disappointed!

Chest Candy Does Not Have a Counterpart in Real Life

Chest Candy is a fictional cloth store set up by the production department of ‘Bad Monkey’ for the crime drama. To match Madeline’s outrageous energy, her workplace has to be extravagant, which explains the creation of the store. With an owner who supposedly has ties with the Russian mob, Chest Candy aligns with her personality. Furthermore, by placing Andrew Yancy in a store like this, the episode enhances the show’s comedic appeal. Therefore, viewers visiting Key West can opt to shop at Quiet Storm, Breeze, Tucker’s Provisions, or Shaddow and Fish instead.

To set up Chest Candy, the production department must have used an empty store space on Duval Street. In the third episode, when Madeline walks to or from her workplace, fearing that someone is following her, she stops in front of RockHouse Live, a bar located at 135 Duval Street. The space utilized to shoot scenes set in Chest Candy can also be in or around the area. Duval Street is one of the most prominent shopping destinations in Key West. The 1.25-mile street is home to various stores and establishments. The place is perfect for bar-hopping as there are several bars in the region, such as Sloppy Joe’s and Captain Tony’s Saloon.

Paranormal enthusiasts can drop by Hard Rock Café, which is allegedly haunted. After shopping on the street, tourists can cherish a beautiful sunset at Mallory Square. Duval Street is not far away from Half Shell Raw Bar, where Yancy meets Madeline for the first time. The bar is located at 231 Margaret Street, which is over half a mile away from the shopping street. In addition to ‘Bad Monkey,’ Key West has hosted the filming of several popular films and TV shows, including Netflix’s sports drama ‘Nyad,’ the iconic crime drama ‘Scarface,’ and the action film ‘True Lies.’
