‘Ballard’ Season 2 Starts Filming in Los Angeles in February

Amazon Prime Video renewed its hit drama series ‘Ballard’ for its second season in October 2025. Moviedelic has learnt that filming for Season 2 of the ‘Bosch’ spin-off will take place in Los Angeles from February 9 to May 11, 2026. Michael Alaimo and Kendall Sherwood serve as showrunners, with Jet Wilkinson returning to direct.

In the Season 1 finale (Episode 10), LAPD Detective Renée Ballard desperately searches for Gary Pearlman, the man who took the lives of many women, whose latest target becomes reserve police officer Ted Rawls, who dies at the hospital. Ballard uses the media to reach out to Gary, giving him a chance to surrender and live. She believes that he will come back for Naomi Bennet, a woman he tried to kill, but she survived. Councilman Jake Pearlman, Gary’s son, is told about his father and lies in disbelief.

Soon, it is revealed that Jake’s sister, Sarah Pearlman, whom Gary killed, was not Gary’s biological daughter. In other words, it seems that Sarah’s mother had an affair. This may have been reason enough for Gary to take her life, though concrete proof remains to be found. Ballard’s plan having failed, she is told to move away from the case. Later, Jake meets Ballard in her office and informs her of his decision not to run for office. However, she will continue to have the council’s support. Be that as it may, Gary is still in the wind, with the police wondering if he has fled to Mexico.

As fate would have it, Ballard is attacked by Gary in her office the same evening she met Jake. Following a fight, she takes Gary down, who confesses to killing successful women by punishing them for making decisions independently. Since Gary has more victims, the investigation is bound to continue.

As for the case of RHD Detective Robert Olivas, who is notorious for sexually harassing women he has worked with, including Ballard, Olivas’ behaviour and his involvement with the Zacatecas Nuevas cartel were eventually exposed. Unfortunately, Harry Bosch informs Ballard that the DA has dropped all charges against Olivas in exchange for his testimony against other conspirators. When Olivas’s wife confronts Ballard for ruining her husband’s career, Ballard sends her to the captain to find out the truth. Ballard then confronts Olivas at his own house. Naturally, Olivas mocks her, but gets mocked back when she tells him that his wife has found the truth and left with their kids.

Episode 10 ends with Ballard and Samira having drinks and talking about the failed system that lets people like Olivas walk. The last we see of Ballard is when cops pull over and arrest her for the murder of Olivas. Someone shot him, and she is a suspect. Was it the cartel that killed him to prevent him from revealing information? Or did someone inside the LAPD do it, which means there are more rats? Season 2 has many questions to answer.

Considering how the first season ends, the cast expected to return for Season 2 include Maggie Q as Detective Renée Ballard, Courtney Taylor as Samira Parker, John Carroll Lynch as Thomas Laffont, Rebecca Field as Colleen Hatteras, Michael Mosley as Ted Rawls, Victoria Moroles as Martina Castro, and Amy Hill as Ballard’s grandmother, Tutu, Titus Welliver as Harry Bosch (guest role in Season 1), and Noah Bean as Jake Pearlman. Rosanna Arquette has joined Season 2 as Jenny Ballard, Renée Ballard’s estranged mother.
