Netflix’s ‘Medusa’ follows the turmoil within the Hidalgo family, especially after someone tries to kill the Medusa Corporation’s CEO, Barbara Hidalgo. With each twist and turn, the case becomes more interesting, and it also becomes clear that someone is so desperate to keep the truth hidden that they are ready to do whatever it takes to remain in the shadows. However, Danger Carmelo is not the kind of detective who can let go of an investigation so easily. Even when his department closes the case and tells him to move on, he continues to investigate on his own, creating problems for himself at work. Meanwhile, his personal life is also hanging by the thread, and the only thing keeping him sane is his dog, Bandolera.
Bandolera Remains Out of Harm’s Way While Danger Lurks on Her Human
From the first episode of ‘Medusa,’ it becomes clear that Danger Carmelo doesn’t have much to live for, but his dog is one of the things keeping him tethered to the mortal world. He reveals that he rescued Bandolera after he found her at a crime scene. Amidst all the bad things and the bloodshed, he found the one good thing, and he knew he couldn’t leave her there. Since then, he and Bandolera have been each other’s companions, and with all the bad things that have happened to him, the dog has seen him through it all.
As Danger becomes embroiled in solving the mystery of Barbara Hidalgo’s attempted murder, he also lands himself in the circle of danger. He is attacked several times in the show. One time, he is targeted in broad daylight by the members of a gang that he has been trying to quash. Another time, he is poisoned in his own home when he drinks a spiked beer, which turns out to have been replaced by the same person who tried to kill Barbara. With the danger to his life hitting him so close to home, one can’t help but worry about his dog’s safety. Who knows what a psychopathic criminal can do to send a message? And considering that Bandolera is the only one that Danger cares about, it makes sense that his cruel enemies would target his innocent dog.
While the people around Danger are criminal and ruthless in their pursuit of money and power, fortunately, none of them is as unhinged as to target and kill the dog. For the entirety of the show, while her human struggles to keep himself and Barbara alive, Bandolera doesn’t have to worry about any attempts on her life. She comes out of the whole thing entirely unscathed, which is for the best. Because of the love and care that Danger has for her, if anyone were to hurt or kill her, there is no doubt that he would turn into John Wick and avenge his dog. He exhibits his dedication to revenge by finding and killing the drug lord who was responsible for the death of his partner. The detective would do the same, if not more if someone were to hurt Bandolera. Fortunately, for everyone, things don’t get that far, and the only thing that Danger has to worry about is the case while the dog focuses on her next meal.
