Bell Fibe TV1 will soon bring a business drama to the screen! Moviedelic can confirm that the network has ordered the TV series ‘Charles TM Charles.’ Principal photography for the project will begin in Hamilton, Ontario, in January 2025. The cast and crew of the show remain undisclosed for now.
The mockumentary series follows a failing business tycoon named Charles, who takes on two young mentees to outdo his rival and win the Hamilton Business Person of the Year Award. No business idea or get-rich-quick scheme is too wacky for the veteran entrepreneur as long as he thinks money can be made.
The protagonist, Charles, is a fiercely competitive and eternally optimistic businessman who embarks on every personal and professional venture with the belief that he will succeed. Whenever he fails, which happens frequently, he makes excuses, blames others, and does anything to avoid facing his own shortcomings. High-energy, loud-mouthed, and relentlessly self-absorbed, Charles’ superhuman confidence is a cloak underneath which resides a lonely outsider whose desperate quest for respect has sabotaged every relationship he ever had.
TV1 is home to another popular mockumentary series, ‘The Canoe Project.’ Created by comedian Mark Harnett and directed by Gaelen Patrick Condon and Shara Désirée King, the show explores Canada’s colonial history through a humorous lens. The narrative follows Richard (Jimmy Mackinley), a government official from Newfoundland who blackmails Canoe (R. Mark Harnett), an Inuit man from Labrador, into moving to the big city. Why? So that Richard can document his indoctrination into the “modern world” and get a big promotion.
Notable shows shot in Hamilton include DC Universe/Max’s ‘Titans’ and Hulu/YTV’s mystery series ‘The Hardy Boys.’ Hallmark films such as ‘Riding the Bus with My Sister’ and ‘The Christmas Cure’ were also shot in the city.
