As the dynasty crumbled with the passing of five brothers out of the six, their bodyguard and family friend, Bill Colville, stood by the Von Erich family and supported them in any way he could. In the documentary episode, Bill is featured as he gives insights into the Von Erichs and how the deaths took a toll on him.
Bill Colville Was a Renowned Figure in the World of Wrestling
Born in Denton, Texas, Bill Colville came from humble beginnings, raised by a loving set of parents. Since he was a friend of Fritz Von Erich, he ended up serving as the bodyguard of his kids, the Von Erich brothers. Given his association with the legendary dynasty, he became a well-known figure in the wrestling world. He saw the tragic and untimely demises of the brothers, until only Kevin Von Erich remained. He also served as the head of security for WCCW (World Class Championship Wrestling). After accompanying them to the wrestling ring for more than 13 years, Bill retired and moved to a brand new chapter of his life.
Unfortunately, after 69 years of marriage, fate intervened in Bill’s parents’ togetherness as his mother passed away in 2016, leaving him distraught and devastated. About three years later, in 2019, the former bodyguard suffered yet another heartbreaking loss when his father also died. Still residing in Denton, Texas, Bill continues to be affected by his parents’ deaths and celebrates their respective lives, especially on their death anniversaries.
On the eighth death anniversary of his mother, he stated, “It’s been 8 years today and yet sometimes it seems like just yesterday you had to leave us. And while you did have to leave us, your memories live on, and your thoughts are always with me. I miss you everyday mom, just as if it was yesterday…😔” On the other hand, Bill remembers his father as someone who was always there for him, believed in him, and supported him. Apart from missing him, he also feels grateful for everything he taught him.
Bill Colville Continues to Lead a Single Yet Fulfilling Life in His Hometown
Bill Colville, a self-employed professional, reportedly underwent foot surgery in early February 2025. As far as his relationship status is concerned, the family friend of the Von Erichs seemingly leads a single life, having no known romantic connections with anyone. In December 2024, he met with Cathy Ann, the ex-wife of Kerry Von Erich, at the TSW taping right before he went to the ring with Tim Storm and James Beard. Reliving his time as the bodyguard, he has gone to various talk shows and podcasts, including Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw in February 2024 and The Von Erichs in July 2024. Apart from wrestling, he has a fascination for luxury and vintage cars. A nature lover at heart, the former bodyguard loves to spend time outdoors, chasing sunrises and sunsets. He holds his dear friends close to his heart, so much so that he considers them his family.
