Bill Hader will make his feature directorial debut with the thriller drama ‘They Know,’ which will be filmed in Los Angeles starting in April this year. Hader wrote the story and will reportedly star as well. Linda Cardellini will star opposite him. The story follows Kyle (Hader), who, after separating from his wife (Cardellini) and family, grows increasingly suspicious of a new neighbor and his possible influence on Kyle’s wife and daughters.
Hader directed several episodes of ‘Barry,’ a show he created and made his directorial debut with. It follows a hitman (Hader) whose trip to Los Angeles to carry out an assassination goes wrong, leaving him in an acting class, which makes him reconsider his lifestyle. The show won over 40 accolades, including 3 Primetime Emmy Awards. As an actor, Hader’s credits include the ‘IT’ movies, ‘Noelle,’ ‘Trainwreck,’ and ‘Maggie’s Plan.’ He has lent his voice to many popular animated movies like ‘IF,’ ‘Inside Out,’ ‘Lightyear,’ ‘The Angry Birds Movie,’ ‘Toy Story 4,’ and ‘Turbo.’ We will next see, or rather hear, him in the animated movie ‘The Cat in the Hat,’ based on Dr. Seuss’s eponymous book. Hader has voiced the titular cat. The movie will be released on November 6, 2026.
Linda Cardellini, remembered by many as Velma from the 2002 movie ‘Scooby-Doo’ and Samantha Taggart from the medical show ‘ER,’ most recently starred as Olivia in the Netflix movie ‘Nonnas.’ Her other recent projects are Netflix’s ‘No Good Deed’ and ‘Dead to Me,’ and also ‘Nutcrackers’ and ‘Hawkeye.’ Up next for her are the HBO show ‘DTF St. Louis,’ the Apple TV+ movie ‘Way of the Warrior Kid,’ and the Peacock show ‘Crystal Lake.’
Upcoming movies to be shot in Los Angeles include ‘One Of Them Days 2,’ featuring Keke Palmer and SZA, and ‘Scandalous!’ starring Sydney Sweeney and Colman Domingo. Among the recent films that used LA as the production base are ‘One Battle After Another,’ ‘The Rip,’ and ‘Mercy.’
