In ‘Blood Coast’ (‘Pax Massilia’), Lyes Benamar finds himself in an entirely new and unexpected predicament at the end of season 2. Despite the protagonist’s best efforts, Ali Saidi dies at the hands of his rival, Yassine, in the aftermath of an emotional confrontation between him and the ex-cop. This leaves the latter in a precarious position where he’s in possession of Ali’s last weighty product shipment from Sidi. As a result, this, paired with his past connections to the Marseille police department, makes him the ideal successor to the Saidi drug empire in Sidi’s eyes.
Although this could play into the favor of the police department, for whom Lyes is currently operating as a double agent, the fact remains that the former detective is still a fugitive of the law. Therefore, it’s evident that whatever road lies ahead for the protagonist, it promises to be a bumpy ride. Even though the show hasn’t officially been greenlit for a season 3 as of yet, fans can expect a continuation to hit the screens in 2027 in the event of a swift renewal.
The Writing For Blood Coast Season 3 Has Reportedly Already Begun
While ‘Blood Coast’ has yet to receive a renewal for season 3, reports suggest that the show’s writers, including Olivier Marchal, have already begun working on a potential continuation. This may be a result of the dynamic nature of the sophomore season’s conclusion, which leaves plenty of opportunity open for a third season. In the aftermath of Ali Saidi’s death, a power vacuum opens up in the streets of Marseille. Although it would be beneficial for the police department to make their arrests now and round up the posse that has been left behind, they’re presented with an even better offer. In the climactic meeting between Lyes and Chris, Sidi’s attorney, the lawyer makes the ex-cop an impossible offer: the throne to the Saidis’ crime empire.

At the time when this offer is made, Lyes is still working undercover for the Marseille police department. Therefore, if he chooses to embrace the opportunity, it would open up the gates for the authorities to close in on higher-profile marks like Sidi and other crucial players who keep the city’s drug underworld running. Yet, on the other hand, another pressing problem looms over the protagonist’s head. If he chooses to keep his cover, it robs him of his ability to shake off his fugitive title by revealing that his prison break was a part of an undercover mission. As a result, it’s clear that whatever decision Lyes makes, his story is bound to unravel in exciting new adventures. For the same reason, Marchal and his co-writers’ decision to begin working on the script for the potential future continuation early on can only pay off in big ways.
Lyes and His Team Will Remain at the Center of Blood Coast Season 3
Across the first two seasons of ‘Blood Coast,’ Lyes and his team of detectives, dubbed “The Crazies,” have been at the center of the narrative. Although the dynamics between them are ever-evolving, their camaraderie and teamwork are an essential part of the story. Therefore, fans can expect this focus on their relationship to remain a narrative even in a potential season 3. This means we will likely see a return for the main cast, which includes Tewfik Jallab (Lyes), Jeanne Goursaud (Alice), Olivier Barthélémy (Arno), Lani Sogoyou (Audrey), and Idir Azougli (Tatoo).

Furthermore, other crucial characters from the police department, such as Chief Fabiaini (Florence Thomassin) and Miranda (Diouc Koma), can also be expected to reprise their roles. On the other hand, we can expect to see some major changes in the criminal underworld side of the narrative. With the death of Samir Boitard’s character, Ali Saidi, the narrative would be in need of a new antagonistic/anti-hero perspective. There’s always a chance that Yassine and his up-and-coming Le Xetas gang might overtake the more villainous role in upcoming season(s). Additionally, newly introduced players like Sidi and Chris, Lyes’ potential new business partners, can also take on a more central role in future continuations.
Blood Coast Season 3 Might Delve Deeper Into Lyes’ Relationship With Alice
In season 1, Alice’s character is introduced as a new transfer detective in the Marseille police department. As a result, an interesting new dynamic forms between her and the rest of the Crazies throughout the debut season. Her budding romance with Lyes becomes a particularly exciting aspect of both characters’ narratives. Although they act on their feelings by the end of that season, they’re thrown into an impossible situation when Lyes gets arrested shortly thereafter. Consequently, as he remains on the run for most of season 2, while Alice deals with the complications inside the police department, their storylines have little space for crossover.

Even so, it remains evident that both of them are still interested in pursuing a relationship together. Therefore, if a potential season 3 progresses to pitch Lyes as an undercover agent in Sidi’s circle, with his team playing the part of corrupt cops in service of the operation, then there’s a strong chance that Lyes and Alice’s narratives might once again converge. As a result, we can expect the duo to explore the intricacies of their relationship at a steadier pace. Similarly, such a collaboration between Lyes and his old team will allow him the narrative to bring the focus back to their interpersonal relationships and dynamics, opening up space for individual storylines to develop.
