The filming of the sixth season of Sky’s comedy series ‘Brassic’ has begun in Wirral, England. The British series follows “the lives of Vinnie O’Neill and his friends as they live their lives in the fictional northern English town of Hawley. The group commits various petty crimes to keep money in their pockets but as they get older, some of them start to wonder if there’s more to life away from the town,” as per the official logline.
While the previous seasons of the series were primarily shot in the town of Bacup in Lancashire, the production team was spotted filming the sixth season in Wirral. The cast and crew shot a few sequences at Seacombe Ferry Terminal, on board a Royal Iris ferry along the River Mersey. Wirral, a metropolitan borough of Merseyside in North West England, has hosted the filming of several other films and shows as well, including ‘Peaky Blinders,’ ‘Across the Universe,’ ‘Official Secrets,’ ‘Florence Foster Jenkins,’ ‘The Violators,’ and ‘A Boy Called Dad.’
The series was created by Daniel Brocklehurst and Joe Gilgun. Brocklehurst is also known for writing multiple episodes of shows such as ‘The Stranger,’ ‘Stay Close,’ and ‘No Return,’ while Gilgun earlier served as a co-executive producer of AMC’s ‘Preacher.’ The duo also executive produce the series along with David Livingstone and Jon Mountague. Gilgun stars in the show as Vincent “Vinnie” O’Neill as well. His other acting credits include the films ‘The Infiltrator,’ ‘The Last Witch Hunter,’ and ‘Lockout’ and the shows ‘Misfits’ and ‘Preacher.’
The series also stars Michelle Keegan (‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Our Girl’) as Erin Croft, Tom Hanson (‘Murder on the Orient Express’) as Leslie “Cardi” Titt, Aaron Heffernan (‘Obsession: Dark Desires’ and ‘War of the Worlds’) as Ashley “Ash” Dennings, Ryan Sampson (‘Doctor Who’ and ‘After You’ve Gone’) as Tommo, and Parth Thakerar (‘The Weekend Away’) as Jehan “JJ” Jovani. The rest of the cast includes Steve Evets as Farmer Jim, Dominic West as Dr. Chris Coxley, Bronagh Gallagher as Carol Dennings, Tadhg Murphy as Gary, and Joanna Higson as Sugar. The main cast members are expected to return to the new season.
‘Brassic’ is produced by Calamity Films, the company behind the movies ‘Judy’ and ‘Last Christmas.’ The show first premiered in 2019. The fifth season is set to debut on Sky Max on September 28, 2023. In the upcoming season, “Vinnie and the gang face big repercussions from their entanglements with the dangerous McDonagh brothers and powerful drug buyer Manolito. With both criminal big-wigs now on his case, Vinnie needs to negotiate his exit strategy – and fast. But there’s a lot on his mind, especially as he’s still trying to figure out what the hell is going on between him and Erin. Can they ever actually be together, and does she really want to share this unhinged and dangerous life with him?” states the official synopsis. Meanwhile, the plot details of the sixth season have been kept under wraps.
