Hulu’s ‘Hey Beautiful: Anatomy of a Romance Scam’ is a three-part true crime documentary series that delves deep into the lives of different women across the world who find themselves in the middle of a romance scam. When they realized that their handsome man was not who he claimed to be, and instead, was a man named Brian Haugen, their world turned upside down. Unaware that his photos were used by scammers for catfishing women, Brian was taken by surprise when he was on a virtual call with several scam victims. He became a part of the team, determined to catch the scammers and bring them to justice.
Brian Haugen is a Seasoned Makeup Artist, Hair Stylist, and Entrepreneur
Before Brian Haugen fully focused on his career in the beauty industry, he majored in Psychology at Brigham Young University and graduated with a grade A in 1997. Starting in 1999, he served as the business manager, owner, and director of Switch Salon. By the time he parted ways with the salon in late 2005, he had earned a Cosmetology Certification from Sherman Kendall’s Academy of Beauty Arts & Sciences. From Salt Lake City, Utah, he relocated to Los Angeles, California, and bagged a job at MAC Cosmetics in early 2006 as a Sales Floor Team Member.
On the side, he has been a makeup artist and hair stylist, which has allowed him to work with several celebrities, actors, models, and spokespersons. After earning sufficient experience under his belt, he founded Brian + MW in January 2010 and has been serving as the Director of Business Development since then. In 2008, when he founded Makeover Workshop, he worked as a Beauty Expert only to later take the role of Managing Director of Sales, Marketing, and Operations. He also has a cosmetics and makeup brand called By Brian, wherein he sells high-quality products like Sunscreen, Moisturizer, Serum, Foundation, Lipstick, Eye Shadow, and more.
With over three decades of experience in the beauty industry, Brian has earned recognition from some of the biggest magazines in the world, including Vogue, Victoria’s Secret, Universal Studios, and HBO. Besides that, he also has a deep passion for teaching, which he realizes by teaching women ways to beautify themselves by providing virtual and in-person one-on-one workshops and virtual consultations to interested people through his brand’s official website. He has admitted, “My passion for teaching people how to do their makeup, and how to look their best, is why I created Makeover Workshop.”
Brian Haugen Also Dabbles in Acting and Modeling
Besides being a makeup expert, Brian Haugen is also an actor, host, model, and spokesperson. With big dreams of making it in the entertainment industry, he moved to Salt Lake City, where he began his acting and modeling career. Soon, he relocated to Los Angeles and attended the New York Film Academy, The Groudlings, and various other studios in the City of Angels. Once he had refined his skills, he managed to land roles in several movies, such as ‘The Reason,’ ‘The Watcher,’ ‘Ride West,’ ‘Firm-a-loss,’ and ‘Streets of L.A.’ He also served as a stand-in in ‘Touched By An Angel.’ Thanks to his talent and different kinds of experiences he has gone through in life, he is able to bring the character he portrays to life.
Brian Haugen Shares a Deep and Committed Bond With His Partner
While he has made his professional life easily accessible to the public, the scams have made him a bit apprehensive about sharing details of his personal life. Thus, he prefers to keep most of the details away from the limelight. What we can tell is that he resides in Los Angeles, California, where he has been in a healthy relationship with a man named Jabril for at least a year. When he is not busy working on his brand and business, Brian spends time with the gay and kink community alongside his partner. Being an outdoorsy and adventurous individual, he also loves to indulge in various sports and physical activities like Yoga, snowboarding, ice skating, golf, rock climbing, swimming, skiing, ice climbing, and more.
