Bryan Carr Dangerously Obese Update: Where is He Now?

Bryan Carr’s transformative journey is featured in Season 2, Episode 8 of TLC’s ‘Dangerously Obese.’ He shared his story as a man who had always struggled with being overweight and had to endure teasing while growing up. When his parents got divorced during his fifth or sixth-grade years, it led him to turn to food for comfort. His life further changed when he developed a painful condition that caused his legs to swell. It forced him to give up sports, and once again, food served as his coping mechanism. As the numbers on the scale increased, so did the pain in his body. Bryan reached the breaking point, recognizing that if he continued down the same path, he would risk missing out on the moments that mattered most. Ultimately, he made the courageous choice to seek professional help.

Bryan Carr Pushed Through Early Slip-Ups to Receive Weight Loss Surgery

At the start of his journey on the show, Bryan Carr spoke honestly about how his high weight had become a part of his daily routine, causing him back and hip pain, as well as exhaustion. His struggles escalated years earlier, back in October 2006, when he injured his knee while playing basketball. Bryan eventually developed lymphedema from there, and his weight continued to increase. When he arrived for his first appointment at Dr. Charles Procter’s clinic, he weighed in at 597.4 lbs. The numbers left him stunned, and the doctor gave him a clear goal to lose 50 lbs in two months. Initially, he believed it would be an almost impossible target. So, he strayed away from his diet in the early days. However, he didn’t give up as Bryan was soon motivated by the thought of meeting with his daughter.

Bryan resumed his diet with full force and returned to his taekwondo classes after 30 years. He also incorporated walking into his daily routine. Yet, before his second appointment, he became concerned because his lymphedema had grown larger. However, he also remained hopeful because his clothes were getting a little less tight. During the surgery approval weigh-in, the scale read 560.4 lbs. Although it initially seemed that he was unable to meet his goal, Dr. Procter noted that the lymphedema could add an extra 10 lbs. Ultimately, Bryan was approved for the weight loss surgery, and the procedure was completed successfully. Ten months later, he had dropped his weight to 366 lbs, and after ten more months, he shed an additional 19 lbs, marking a remarkable transformation.

Bryan is Thriving in His Career Along With a Prominent Digital Presence

During his time on the show, Bryan had reminisced about the old times when he was a natural athlete whose life revolved around movement and competition. He used to practice taekwondo, soccer, basketball, and semi-professional football. However, things changed after October 2006 when Bryan’s lymphedema began to develop. The condition forced him to step away from sports activities. As they faded from his life, he gradually became obese. With athletics no longer an option, he shifted his focus to his studies. Bryan eventually completed his education before stepping into the professional world.

Determined to create something meaningful, Bryan launched his YouTube channel, Life vs. Lymphedema. Since 2015, he has been diligently working as the Host and Editor for the channel. With 1.09K subscribers, he utilizes the platform to chronicle his battles with lymphedema, cellulitis, and obesity, offering honest updates about his health to his audience. Besides that, Bryan has been carving out his corporate path with equal determination. In June 2023, he became a Patient Access Specialist for Inova Health before moving on in September 2024. Following that, Bryan took on the role of Patient Coordinator at Ivy Rehab Network.

Simultaneously, Bryan is making strides as a Programming Director at TRU Radio Network LLC. Additionally, he is pretty active on social media, particularly on Facebook, where he has over 1.3K followers. There, he shares glimpses of his weight loss and his personal life. In November 2025, Bryan shared about a significant milestone when he bought a new car. By the following month, he announced his attendance at a watch party for the show at a pub. Considering his recent pictures, it is evident that he has stayed committed to his healthier lifestyle. Bryan’s confidence becomes visible in every image. Moreover, he consistently receives encouraging messages from his followers.

Bryan Considers His Daughters and Friends as His Greatest Source of Strength

When Bryan is not busy with his work, everything in his personal world revolves around his beloved daughters, Sofia and Florenzia. During his weight loss journey in 2022, he revealed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sofia went to Puerto Rico to live with her mother. Hence, it was almost two years later that the reality star reunited with his eldest daughter. It became one of Bryan’s most significant driving forces to lose weight, highlighting how much she means to him. He further shared that although he and Sofia’s mother had ended their relationship, they still maintain a strong and healthy co-parenting bond. Correspondingly, Bryan always makes sure to spoil Florenzia.

It becomes more visible when Bryan holds his phone to let Florenzia record herself while doing her makeup. He never misses an opportunity to express his love for both his daughters. Whether it’s writing down heartfelt messages for their birthdays or spending meaningful time with them, his affection for his daughters always shines through. They often go out trick-or-treating together during Halloween and enjoy decorating the Christmas tree. Bryan also maintains an incredible connection with his mother, Renee, who was overjoyed when she saw her son’s transformation. Beyond that, friendships are an integral part of his life. One of Bryan’s closest friends, James, had even accompanied him to his doctor’s appointments.

It reflects the loyalty and support that surrounds Bryan. He was heartbroken when another of his friends, Bobby Wilson, passed away in 2023. He still carries the grief in his heart to this day. Amid the pain, in October 2025, Bryan found love once again. He revealed that he and his new partner had gone on two memorable dates, but admitted that he wasn’t sure if they were moving too quickly. Whatever the case may be, we hope that the pair is looking forward to their future together. Currently, Bryan has chosen to keep her identity private. When he gets a moment to himself, he enjoys playing poker and watching football games, appreciating the simple activities that bring him happiness in life.
