Cameron Diaz’s Untitled Sham Marriage Movie Starts Filming In New York In March

Cameron Diaz is all set to shoot her next movie in the Big Apple. Principal photography for her upcoming, yet-untitled sham marriage drama will take place in New York City from March 11 to April 29 this year. John Butler and Stephen Merchant wrote the story, based on which Merchant will direct. He will reportedly star in the Prime Video feature as well.

The story follows Nigel (Merchant), a workaholic Brit employed at an upscale New York hotel, who needs a wife for appearances’ sake. He strikes a deal with Molly (Diaz), a struggling stand-up comic who is desperate for health insurance. Their fake marriage starts as a transaction but ends in a hilariously unexpected romance.

Cameron Diaz’s latest performance was as Emily in the Netflix action comedy ‘Back in Action,’ opposite Jamie Foxx. This was her first performance in 11 years; her previous one was as Miss Colleen Hannigan in the musical comedy-drama ‘Annie.’ Diaz was one of the most sought-after actresses in the 1990s and early 2000s, starring in movies like ‘The Mask,’ ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding,’ ‘There’s Something About Mary,’ ‘Charlie’s Angels,’ ‘Gangs of New York,’ ‘Being John Malkovich,’ ‘Any Given Sunday,’ and the ‘Shrek’ movies that are still ongoing. Her upcoming projects include ‘Shrek 5,’ Jonah Hill’s crime comedy movie ‘Outcome,’ also featuring Keanu Reeves, Hill, and Matt Bomer, and the action comedy flick ‘Bad Day,’ also starring Sam Richardson.

Stephen Merchant may be recognized as the albino mutant Caliban from ‘Logan,’ but he has played significant roles in many acclaimed movies and shows in the last 10 years. Some of them are Frans Balder in ‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web,’ Captain Deertz in ‘Jojo Rabbit,’ Michael Morgan in ‘Locked Down,’ Hugh in ‘Fighting with My Family,’ Greg in ‘The Outlaws,’ and, most recently, Jerry in Kate Winslet’s debut directorial feature ‘Goodbye June.’
