‘Cash Queens’ season 1 charts an invigorating path before arriving at a thrilling conclusion. Throughout the season, Rosa and her friends put on male disguises to rob banks, earning cold, hard cash and a reputation in the less-than-savory sectors of the city. As a result of their increasingly brazen thefts, they end up becoming targets for both law enforcement and the dangerous local gang. Nonetheless, despite the bleak circumstances, the group of robbers manages to dig themselves out of trouble with one last adventure that shakes both the mayor, Michel Marionnaud, and the mob boss, Ezechiel, off their backs.
Even so, in the finale’s climactic car chase sequence, the group’s impromptu leader, Rosa, ends up having to sacrifice herself to ensure the safety of her friends. As such, the season ends on a bittersweet note with Rosa apprehended by the authorities in the process of protecting her friends. Naturally, this ending, and a few other interesting revelations, are bound to ignite the fans’ curiosity about a possible continuation. Although any confirmation is yet to arrive about a potential season 2, if a renewal happens soon enough, the show can return as early as 2028.
Cash Queens Season 2 Will Pick Up in the Aftermath of Rosa’s Arrest
Season 1 of ‘Cash Queens’ models its premise after the real-life story of the Gang des Amazones, a group of robbers who were active in France between 1989 and 1990. The series only farms surface-level inspiration from the off-screen crime and relies on significant dramatization, exaggeration, and fictionalization to shape the storylines of Rosa and her friends. As a result, by the end of season 1, the on-screen robbers find themselves in a much different place than the real Gang des Amazones. For the same reason, in the event of a potential season 2, fans can expect the show to overlook the real-life demises of the robbers and supply extensions for their narratives. This means that Rosa’s arrest doesn’t necessarily have to mean the end for the group.
Season 1 deliberately ends on an ambiguous note, leaving things up to the viewers’ interpretation. As such, the story can unravel in a number of ways. For one, an easy way to deal with Rosa’s arrest would require a time jump of some sort wherein the single mother serves the time for her crime before being released and reunited with her family and fellow robbers. This can then pave the way to future criminal ventures that the group decides to partake in despite the disastrous end of their past ventures. On the other hand, a potential season 2 can examine the immediate aftermath of Rosa’s arrest. Either way, we can expect the conclusive apprehension of the ringleader to set the tone for the continuation of the story.
The Main Characters Will Likely Return For Cash Queens Season 2
‘Cash Queens’ solidifies a character-driven identity in its first season. Rosa and her friends are at the center of the narratives, with their personal goals, hurdles, and demises retaining high stakes in the story. As a result, it’s almost impossible to imagine a continuation of the story without the central cast. For the same reason, fans can expect the leading ladies of the series to reprise their roles if the show gets renewed for another season. This means we can expect to see the return of Rebecca Marder (Rosa), Zoé Marchal (Kim), Naidra Ayadi (Sofia), Pascale Arbillot (Chloe), and Tya Deslauriers (Alex).
Similarly, characters who are close to the protagonists are also likely to remain a part of the show moving forward. This would include characters like Rosa’s children, Sofia’s children, and her mother. Considering Mayor Marionnaud (François Damiens) is in handcuffs in the season 1 finale, his involvement in season 2 would rely entirely on how the show handles the possibility of his convictions for the robberies. Similarly, the possibility of a return for both Malik (Sami Outalbali) and Victor Castel (Jonathan Cohen), who play love interests for the central characters, also remains uncertain. However, fans can rest assured that a new season would likely result in the inclusion of a few new places as the robbers’ criminal undertakings continue to expand.
Oualid Will Likely Play a Notable Role in Cash Queens Season 2
Season 1 of ‘Screen Queens’ includes an intriguing post-credit scene wherein a startling revelation is made. Earlier in the season, Sofia and her friends accidentally contribute to the death of her ex-husband, Oualid, after the latter figures out their secret and tries to extort them for money through it. In the aftermath, the single mother ends up stuffing her ex-husband’s body in a suitcase, which another couple at the hotel promptly mistakes for their own. As a result, the suitcase ends up going through the airport before Sofia, and the others can intervene. However, the post-credit scene reveals that Oualid is actually still alive and well, sporting only a head injury.
This introduces a number of potential storylines for the next season. For once, the circumstances around Oualid’s survival and her escape from the suitcase in the airport remain unanswered. Therefore, fans can expect to learn more about the same. Additionally, his survival promises to spell trouble for the protagonists. Even though Rosa takes the fall for the robberies, allowing her friends to walk away from the crime, Oualid’s resurfacing could potentially land them back in trouble. This will be especially true if he’s vengeful enough to seek Sofia and her friends’ downfall by collaborating with the authorities. Consequently, given the significance assigned to the character at the end of season 1, he’s bound to become a key player in a potential season 2.
