Chrystal Rollins’ transformative battle with obesity was once again featured on season 10 episode 4 of TLC’s ‘My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now?’ Initially, she weighed 611.8 lbs and entirely depended on oxygen for her breathing. Her vicious cycle with food began at just eight years old when a family member molested her. Since then, she turned to food as her only source of comfort. Chrystal was unable to raise her daughters as she wanted, and the only activity she could share with them was cooking. When she realized her life was taking a serious turn, Chrystal boldly decided to move to Houston and participate in Dr. Nowzaradan’s weight loss program.
Chrystal Rollins Was Highly Dedicated to Turning Her Life Around
Initially, Chrystal Rollins was supposed to lose 60 lbs in the next two months. Besides her diet and exercise, she was also bravely facing her trauma through therapy. By the end of the first two months, her weight had decreased to 498.3 lbs. For two times, she was approved for her weight loss surgery. However, each time the test showed that she was still physically not ready for the procedure. By month 12, Chrystal had achieved her goal of no longer being dependent on oxygen for breathing. Her weight came down to 476.2 lbs, and her energy level also increased considerably. After one year and one month, Chrystal was disappointed to find out her lungs were not strong enough to let her get the surgery.
Dr. Nowzaradan gave Chrystal two months to lose more weight. In one year and three months, she had reached 411 lbs. Ultimately, she was approved for weight loss surgery, and the tests showed no major concerns about the operation. Chrystal’s weight had dropped to 329.1 lbs in one year and seven months of her journey. However, another challenge arose when the doctor informed Chrystal that her skin removal surgery was not possible yet, since the extra skin would contain no fat. By one year and 10 months into the weight loss program, the reality star brought her weight down to 297 lbs. She was eventually approved for her skin removal surgery, provided she lost just 10 more pounds.
Chrystal Rollins Has Decided to Keep Her Professional Life Under Wraps
Chrystal Rollins’ struggle with weight began long before her appearance on the show. By the time she was 14 years old and started high school, she had weighed around 300 lbs. The emotional trauma she experienced in her childhood had taken a profound toll on her. During her graduation from high school, she was living with her grandmother. Despite the challenges, Chrystal never gave up on her desire to be independent. She began working at a pizza place and started saving money. During this time, the reality star got into a relationship with one of her co-workers. She revealed that although the relationship initially seemed promising, it later turned violent.
Chrystal found the strength to leave the toxic situation, but by 23, she had reached 500 lbs. However, she had become independent and got her own place. At 25 years old, the reality star met the father of her children. She explained how the relationship gradually turned violent, and she ended up leaving it behind. By the time Chrystal was 29, she worked multiple jobs to support her daughters. Her commitment to providing for her family never wavered. However, her weight started taking a toll on her body, making it impossible for her to work anymore. Although Chrystal has made significant progress in her weight loss journey, she has not strayed from her path towards reclaiming her health.
As of writing, Chrystal has remained relatively quiet about her current professional status. In September 2024, she shared an Instagram story about financial hardship. She shared a GoFundMe link, which stated that she was a “homeless mother” with her teenage daughters. Additionally, in December, she asked her followers to support her on her birthday by sending money. The reality star has gained several fans through her inspiring journey. They often leave encouraging messages like “I just watched your episode and story, it’s very inspirational, please never surrender,” and “We love you and we hope the best for you and your family.” Given the strength and resilience Chrystal has demonstrated throughout her life, we do hope she is flourishing behind the scenes.
Chrystal’s Family and Adorable Pup Are the Center of Her World
Through every hardship, Chrystal’s constant source of motivation has been her daughters, Ivoriana and Tatiana. During her weight loss journey, they always cooked, exercised, and maintained healthy routines to support her. Whether it be spending their time on the playing ground or going to the aquarium together, they always make sure to spend time with each other. Chrystal never hesitates to express how much they mean to her. Her social media is filled with her affectionate messages for them on their birthdays that radiate maternal pride and affection. In one instance, she wrote, “I love you more than words could ever express hope your day is a special as you are, love u always.”
Aside from this, her brother, Josh, has also been a major source of strength throughout her journey. In March 2025, she shared a birthday message for him that was filled with longing and love: “I love u and miss u so much, hopefully we can link up over this summer, but until then, happy birthday.” Chrystal also maintained a deep connection with her mother. However, tragedy struck in March 2024 when her mother passed away. She mourned her loss very deeply and still carries the grief to this day. On Mother’s Day 2025, Chrystal penned down a heartfelt message, stating, “Mama, another year without u here, we miss u so! We love u more happy heavenly momma’s day this day was made for u.”
Beyond this, Chrystal has found contentment in rekindling her relationship with her father. She had reunited with him in March 2024 after several years of not seeing him in person. Their reunion was touching to her fans, with one of them commenting on how much they looked like “twins.” Besides this, she also travelled to Los Angeles in the same month, which served as a change of scenery, bringing her both reflection and purpose. Apart from this, Chrystal also makes sure to shower her furry baby, Jojo, with love and attention at every chance she gets.
