Cindy Mallette: Where is the Teen Mania Whistleblower Now?

Starting in the 1980s, the Evangelical Christian youth organization Teen Mania Ministries garnered the attention of millennial teenagers across the nation. Ron Luce was the founder and president of the controversial organization. In the early 2010s, Ron and Teen Mania were alleged to have been exploitative toward the teens in the name of religion, transforming them into soldiers. In order to control the damage and handle the PR crisis, they hired Cindy Mallette, who ended up being a whistleblower. The entire controversy surrounding the same is covered in a detailed manner in Prime Video’s ‘Shiny Happy People: A Teenage Holy War,’ a three-part documentary series. Cindy also features in the docuseries and shares her experiences of working with Teen Mania.
