Lifetime’s ‘Married at First Sight’ introduced two fascinating personalities, Clara Berghaus and Ryan Oubre, in season 12. Throughout the season, the Atlanta-based couple faced several challenges, which were mainly concerned with intimacy and communication. Clara was open about her desire for physical affection and verbal affirmations. On the other hand, Ryan had never said, “I love you,” in a romantic relationship before this since he was more reserved. Although these hurdles kept the viewers wondering whether the couple would ultimately make it or not, they showcased a strong bond and mutual respect. Irrespective of the problems, they gave their connection a chance and ended up saying “Yes” to each other on Decision Day, promising to work towards their differences in the outside world.
Clara and Ryan Separated Two Months After the Reunion Special
After Clara and Ryan’s decision to stay married during Decision Day, they started facing serious issues. Ultimately, the duo failed to work out their relationship, and in July 2021, about two months after the reunion aired, they announced their divorce. The former couple disclosed that they had reached a point in their marriage where they knew it was better to go separate ways. Further explaining, they stated that it was not an easy decision to make, and they were grateful to everyone who stood by them during this difficult decision. Although they had not initially made any comments about their split, Ryan decided to break his silence on social media in December 2021.
According to Ryan, if an individual is marrying into another culture, they should be willing to gain more knowledge about it. He further highlighted the challenges of interracial marriage, revealing, “Choosing not to understand and educate yourself is a red flag.” On the other hand, Clara felt that she did not owe anyone any explanations or even her silence for that matter. Adding to it, she also expressed that she had always avoided speaking up for herself because the TV star always avoided confrontations. However, she did not stop herself from celebrating the signing of her divorce papers and shared her excitement for the next chapter of her life. Following the messy split, the former duo has wholly moved on from each other and have been leading individual lives without any contact.
