Crowned Skin: Who Are They and What Do They Do?
The journey of Crowned Skin founder Darrell Spencer is shaped by ambition, discipline, and a quiet determination to build something meaningful from the ground up. In the early years, he aspired to become an actor, which led him to model as a preteen. He attended the Chicago Bulls College Prep, where he actively participated in several sports and extracurricular activities. Darrell eventually completed higher education by earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Connecticut College. In June 2015, he began his career as a Business Operations Analyst Intern at Exelon, a role he held until June 2017. That was followed by Darrell’s brief stint at Buehler, an ITW Company, as a Global Strategy and Operations Intern until August 2017.
In 2018, Darrell stepped into the role of Client Consulting Analyst in Investments at Willis Towers Watson. Before leaving the position in February 2020, he joined Meta as a part of the Global Business Group in Strategic Partnerships and Key Accounts in December 2019. Simultaneously, Darrell excelled as a Manager of Enterprise Client Solutions at VidMob from 2021 to 2022. He left Meta in January 2022 and joined Google three months later as a Partnerships professional for Enterprise – Large Customer Sales. He continued to work in the position until January 2024. Amid the impressive corporate trajectory, Darrell tapped into his entrepreneurial spirit. He became the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kings Crowning in January 2020, and worked on the venture until November 2024.
Through Kings Crowning, Darrell realized that men’s skincare lacked a best-in-class formulation that combined effectiveness with identity. After realizing the gap, he began working on the idea, which led him to transition from Kings Crowning to building the brand, Crowned Skin, in April 2024. Through this brand, the founder aims to make cologne-infused body care products for men, unlike any other company. Their star products, including the Body Butter Colognes and Body Oil Colognes, are designed for modern men across diverse backgrounds. These items blend natural ingredients like shea butter, mango butter, and nourishing oils. They help deliver deep hydration without clogging pores and causing acne. Following the launch of Crowned Skin, the brand quickly gained recognition and achieved sales of eight figures in its first year. Additionally, they ranked among the Top 50 products in the Men’s Grooming category on Amazon. They also ranked second in TikTok Shop as the first Black-male-founded brand. Crowned Skin gained further visibility through features on major outlets such as Fashion Bomb Daily, Business Insider, and Essence. As of writing, customers can easily purchase their products from their official website, Amazon storefront, and TikTok Shop. The brand’s signature Body Butter Colognes are priced at $39.99 each and are available in five distinct fragrances: Warm and Sensual, Fresh and Nautical, Spicy and Bold, Smoky Santal, and Smoky Citrus Musk.
Crowned Skin also sells body colognes, available in the same five scents at $31.99 each. Crowned Skin was also featured in Forbes, where Darrell discussed redefining the skincare category with premium formulations and innovation. In February, they addressed a fraudulent account that falsely claimed the brand’s Shopify store had been suspended. Crowned Skin clarified that the information was untrue and the said account wasn’t associated with their official channels. By March 2026, they invited loyal customers into an exclusive early-access movement. Around the same time, they announced a Secret Anniversary Giveaway, offering one lucky winner an exclusive mystery bundle valued at over $300. In April, the brand continued to reward its community by offering a 15% discount for newsletter sign-ups and granting access to VIP-only deals, special events, and new product launches.
