The previous episode ended with Okarun, Jiji (Evil Eye), and Momo locked in an epic fight under the Kito house, with their lives hanging in the balance. As Evil Eye tries to avenge the souls who have suffered at the hands of the Kitos, the Mongolian Death Worm seemingly goes into hiding. The three friends must find a way out of this ordeal before their souls are changed any further. SPOILERS AHEAD.
A Triple Threat Fight Beneath the House of Horrors
Okarun (Turbo Granny Form), Jiji (Evil Eye), and Momo continue to fight under the Kito house of horrors. Evil Eye cannot believe that a Yokai like Turbo Granny is helping humans. Okarun (As Turbo Granny) speeds to take Momo upstairs to a safer place; however, they realize that they aren’t quite out of the woods yet, as Okarun returns to his human form. The Mongolian Death Worm begins to spray a highly toxic venom and produces electric shocks to weaken those around. Momo and Okarun realize that way outside is still too high and almost beyond their reach.
Okarun remembers that underground dwelling beasts like the Death Worm hate sunlight. Momo doesn’t want to leave Jiji either; however, Okarun says that he can only get Momo out of the place and asks Momo to find a rope when she’s up and safe. The protagonist says he can take care of Jiji and bring him to safety. Momo asks him to go easy on Jiji. Okarun takes the Turbo Granny form again and launches Momo above with brute force. Momo uses her abilities to cover the remaining height and reaches the surface of the house. Evil Eye returns to fight Okarun and tells him that he will be the first human he kills.
Momo ties up clothes to convert them into a long rope, but it cannot reach below. Momo thinks hard about a way to stop the Death Worm’s poison and kill it. She realizes it’s through an act of suicide that she can achieve both objectives. She sets the Kito house on fire and calls for the fire brigade. Evil Eye and Okarun continue to fight underneath the surface as they test the limits of each other’s power, with the former still in possession of the aura ball of souls. They wage a war of epic proportions, but Evil Eye initially proves too much for Okarun to handle. The Death Worm continues to release poison, making Jiji’s body weaker as a host to the Evil Eye, who converts the aura ball haunted souls into a house-like structure and traps Okarun inside.
The Escape of Momo Ayase Turns the Tide
Okarun finds it difficult to escape the structure, and Evil Eye goes inside to overpower him. However, Ken Takakura doesn’t give up and shows high motivation to save Jiji from the entity’s grasp. He says he’s angry about the Evil Eye hurting Momo and possessing Jiji. Okarun goes all out to keep punching Evil Eye countless times out of the fight. He successfully manages to shatter the soul house structure, causing Evil Eye to collapse due to the brute force. Both the combatants lie down, and Okarun calls out to Momo for help. Okarun tries to drag Jiji out, when it is revealed that the cat figurine (Turbo Granny’s consciousness) is still trapped down below in the Death Worm’s goop.
Okarun hears her voice and tries to help her out of the sticky substance; however, he ends up falling into it too. Upstairs on the surface, Momo tries to tell Tsuru, the police officer, that the Kitos sacrificed many lives in the house for decades, but he says that the Enjoji family owns the house, shocking Momo. He accuses Momo of burning down the house for revenge against the Enjojis and intends to arrest her for arson. However, Momo realizes that the sun is almost setting and pleads with the firefighters to soak the ground.
The Power of the Sun and the Awakening of a Volcano
The Mongolian Death Worm breaches the surface, and Momo recalls Jiji as a kid telling her that underground worms often come out to the surface to breathe after a day of rain because they suffocate underground. However, if the sunlight is too much on the ground, the worms dry out, causing them to die. This phenomenon is called “worm suicide.” The Mongolian Death Worm starts drying out due to the hot sunlight, and Momo destroys the Kito house.
The Mongolian Death Worm dries out to its death, vomiting out all the sticky goop. However, to Momo’s utter disbelief, it’s revealed that all the members of the Kito family, including their head Naki, are still alive, as they get out of the worm’s sticky goop vomit, still alive, despite being swallowed by the giant creature earlier. Naki accuses Momo of killing the Great Serpent, but Momo isn’t interested, as she wants to rescue Okarun and Jiji. In a shocking twist, a big tremor is felt on the ground, and Naki says the whole village will die. The volcano explodes after being dormant for many decades, threatening to kill everyone around.
