Beloved actor Danny Trejo is set to headline ‘Snatched Up’ this fall, portraying himself! Moviedelic has learned that filming of this action-comedy will take place in Vancouver, British Columbia, starting in September. Additional details regarding the supporting cast and crew members are currently being kept under wraps.
The plot of ‘Snatched Up’ follows Danny Trejo as a fictionalized version of himself. Eager to get home to his family for Thanksgiving, he finds himself caught in a chaotic situation when the assisted living facility he’s visiting comes under siege. Trejo must utilize the skills he has learned portraying action heroes on the screen to ensure his friends and family safely get out of this crisis.
Trejo is known for his roles in action and comedy genres, often typecast as a tough, no-nonsense Hispanic character. The veteran actor began his career in his 40s, initially appearing as a boxer and co-star Eric Roberts’ coach in ‘Runaway Train.’ Trejo credits his role as Art Sanella in ‘Death Wish 4: The Crackdown’ as the first significant highlight of his career. Over the next four decades, he went on to appear in a wide range of films, including numerous exploitation films with director Robert Rodriguez. Their collaborations include Trejo’s portrayal of Navajas in ‘Desperado,’ various iterations of Razer in the ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ series, and Cucuy in ‘Once Upon a Time in Mexico.’
Among Trejo’s other notable leading roles are playing Frank Vega in the ‘Bad Ass’ franchise and the historical Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan in the recently released biopic ‘1521: The Quest for Love and Freedom.’ Despite being 80 years old, Trejo’s career shows no signs of slowing down, with the actor having nearly two dozen projects in various stages of production. One of these upcoming films is the highly anticipated ‘Machete Kills in Space,’ where he will reunite with Rodriguez to reprise his iconic role of Machete from the eponymous B movie series, as well as from the ‘Spy Kids’ franchise.
Vancouver, British Columbia, has long been a popular filming location, especially for indie and small-budget features for Lifetime and Hallmark. Recent productions from these categories include ‘Cold Copy,’ ‘Amish Affair,’ and ‘Danger in the Dorm.’ In addition to serving as the home for made-for-television movies, Vancouver has also hosted big-budget blockbusters, ranging from ‘Titanic’ and ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ to the recently released ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and its predecessors.
