In late 2019, the entire community of Kent County, Michigan, was shaken to its core as the news of the killings of David Isner Jr. and Ed Fuller broke out. The two cases were cracked open due to a shocking confession from the perpetrator, not long after the murders. All the intricate details about them are covered extensively in the episode titled ‘He Should Have Died Sooner’ of Investigation Discovery’s ‘Evil Lives Here,’ which also features exclusive interviews with the deceased men’s loved ones and a relative of the killer, providing more insights into the cases.
David Isner Jr. and Ed Fuller Were Killed in a Similar Manner
On July 25, 1985, David and Donna Isner welcomed their little bundle of joy, David Joseph Isner Jr., who grew up alongside his older sister, Sarah. By the age of 34, he had entered parenthood as he was the doting father of Michael and Mollianne. At the time, he was in a romantic relationship with a woman named Julia and resided in the 5100 block of Kimball Avenue Southeast in Kentwood, Michigan. Everything seemed to be going great until fate intervened and he went missing from his apartment in late November 2019. When he didn’t show up at an important family gathering, his loved ones reported him missing to the authorities on the morning of December 2.

The authorities went to David’s house to perform a welfare check, but they couldn’t find him anywhere. Instead, they found a grisly scene with a significant amount of blood and signs of a violent struggle inside the residence. Moreover, his vehicle was found abandoned in a nearby church parking lot. Around noon the following day, his remains were discovered in an open area near Lake Michigan Drive and Wilson Avenue. The cause of his death was determined to be multiple stab wounds. Around the same time, the detectives found the remains of another man, Edward “Ed” James Fuller, the beloved son of Robert and Kathleen Fuller.

Born on November 26, 1956, the middle child grew up with two siblings, Stephen “Steve” Fuller and Helen Brown. Described as a quiet and kind man, Edward had two daughters, Stephanie Morrison and Sharon Harvey, whom he doted upon. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music and going to concerts with his friends. At the time, he lived in a mobile home in Pinegate Mobile Village, off South Division Avenue near 76th Street. The 63-year-old man was found dead at his home, with the cause of death being multiple stab wounds.
The Killer of David Isner Jr. and Ed Fuller Was Someone Close
While the authorities were investigating the disappearance of David Isner Jr., they learned that he lived with a roommate named George Yzaguirre, who was also not in the apartment. Around 8:30 am on December 3, 2019, they learned that the roommate was around 54th Street and Division. Not long after, they received an unexpected call from George himself from a Wyoming Home Depot, and he told the detectives that he wanted to turn himself in for killing two of his friends, David and Edward. After his arrest, he also led them towards their remains.

During his interview, George told the detectives that on November 28, 2019, he was offended by something David had said, due to which he stabbed his longtime friend and roommate in the Kentwood apartment before disposing of his remains. As per his account, before turning himself in, he also visited Edward in his mobile home with the intention of robbing him. During the burglary, George stabbed him to death and fled the scene. Upon referring to the surveillance footage of multiple businesses in Kent County, the killer was seen trying to use Edward’s credit cards after the murder. He was held at the Kent County jail, awaiting trial.
George Yzaguirre Died in Prison While Serving His Life Terms
Within a year of his arrest, on August 4, 2020, George Yzaguirre pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of David Isner Jr. and Edward Fuller. As part of the plea deal, the prosecution agreed to drop the charge of armed robbery. More than two months later, on October 22, 2020, his sentencing hearing took place. David’s mother, Donna Isner, took the stand and stated, “There’s no way to quantify the magnitude of that kind of loss. The loss of David has devastated our family beyond words. We lost our only son. He (Yzaguirre) used to call us mom and dad.”

She added, “Then to think George was such a coward to wait for David to go to sleep before stabbing our son 74 times. If George can do what he did to David, someone who’s like a brother, this community would never be safe with a killer like George in the streets.” Ultimately, the convict was given two life sentences for his involvement in the killings of David and Edward. While he was serving his sentence at a Michigan prison facility, the 37-year-old killer passed away on May 16, 2021, from an apparent suicide.
