Netflix’s ‘The Wrong Paris,’ a romantic drama film directed by Janeen Damian, tells the story of Dawn Blanton, a driven Texan girl who dreams of attending art school in Paris. Despite being accepted into her desired school, financial difficulties prevent her from traveling to France. She reluctantly agrees to her sister’s suggestion to join “The Honey Pot,” a reality dating show set in Paris, viewing it as a chance to pursue her ambitions. However, her excitement vanishes when she learns that they’ve landed in Paris, Texas, and not the capital city of France. After initial hesitation, she moves ahead with the show.
When Dawn meets Trey McAllen III on the dating show, she develops complex romantic feelings. Dawn and Trey are the soul of the movie, and they drive the story with their chemistry and complex emotional dynamics. Trey is a cowboy and a ranch owner who is looking to find true love and a partner with whom to share his farm life. This creates a tussle between him and Dawn, whose primary goal is to achieve greatness in the pursuit of art. The two protagonists add to the depth of the film through their different worldviews and their fierce, yet meaningful, conversations.
Miranda Cosgrove Brings Dawn Blanton’s Ambitions to Life
Dawn is an ambitious woman who hopes to achieve greatness through her pursuit of art. Miranda Taylor Cosgrove’s portrayal breathes life into the protagonist’s quirkiness and complexities. Miranda is the daughter of Christina and Tom Cosgrove. She was discovered at a young age by an agent who saw her singing and dancing around a restaurant table, which led to her quick signing. Miranda began her career by auditioning for various roles, notably appearing in commercials for Burger King and McDonald’s and doing voice-over work for children’s movies, such as ‘Here Comes Peter Cottontail: The Movie’ and ‘Despicable Me.’ She commenced her film-acting career as Summer Hathaway in the movie ‘School of Rock’, and achieved a breakthrough from her work as Megan Parker on the Nickelodeon sitcom ‘Drake & Josh.’
She achieved widespread recognition as Carly Shay on the Nickelodeon sitcom ‘iCarly.’ A former teen idol from the 2000s and early 2010s, she gained recognition by Guinness World Records as the highest-paid child actor in 2012 and featured on Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list in 2022. Her charming on-screen presence and quirkiness are a major part of her acting career, which contributes to her effective performances. Talking to The Hollywood Reporter about playing Dawn, she said, “After playing a character for so many years that just such a nice person, it was fun getting to play a more flawed person. Obviously she has a good heart, but when she signs up for the show, her heart really isn’t in the right place because you’re supposed to sign up looking for love. You’re not just supposed to be trying to get a trip to Paris and money.” Cosgrove’s heartfelt performance adds to the depth of the film.
Pierson Fodé Lends His Own Charm to Trey McAllen
Trey McAllen is a stylish cowboy who also has a tender side to him and craves the feeling of true love. Pierson Fodé adds charm and personality to the character in the movie. Born in Moses Lake, Washington, Pierson established Pierced Productions as a teenager. Through this venture, he produced over 20 short films, in which he also wrote and appeared in the lead roles. His mainstream acting career began in 2012, with the portrayal of Todd in the Nickelodeon sitcom ‘iCarly,’ following which he earned the YouTube Soap Opera Award for his leading role as Jared in ‘Runaways.’ He then went on to play Kruger in the television film’ Wrath of God: Confrontation.’
He appears in the film ‘The Man from Toronto’ and also went on to star in ‘Bold & Beautiful’ for 2 years, for which he was nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy. His charismatic portrayal of complex characters makes him a force to be reckoned with. Speaking to Digital Trends about his role in ‘The Wrong Paris,’ he stated, “I think for Trey, he’s also somebody that’s very straightforward — you get what you get. He’s not trying to play too much for the camera. He’s going to be himself on and off screen. The only version that you’re getting is that he’s just enjoying the chaos that’s happening around him. He’s like, “This is crazy. What a weird world I’m living in right now. I think that’s the only thing that I played a little different.” Pierson’s breezy and confident performance adds flavor to the character.
