Pedro Pascal’s ‘De Noche’ Begins Filming in Mexico in February

Pedro Pascal is headed to Mexico for his next feature. The ‘Last of Us’ star will feature in Todd Haynes’s gay romance drama titled ‘De Noche.’ Haynes and Jon Raymond wrote the screenplay. Filming will take place in Guadalajara, Mexico, starting in late February. Danny Ramirez is also cast.

The story follows Richard Rent (Pascal), a volatile cop in 1930s Los Angeles, and Joe Thomas (Ramirez), a deeply assimilated Native American schoolteacher. In the wake of a mysterious double murder, the two become targets of the city’s corrupt political machine and must flee to Mexico to survive. There, in the humid jungles of the Western coastline, as the threat of global war looms, they enter a brutal, passionate love affair that rearranges their perceptions of the past, the future, and themselves.

Pedro Pascal recently played Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in the MCU movie ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps.’ We also saw him as Harry in the romantic drama ‘Materialists,’ co-starring Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans. His upcoming projects include ‘Behemoth!,’ a movie based on the life of a musician, co-starring Olivia Wilde; ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu,’ a feature where Pascal will reprise his role as the Mandalorian from the eponymous Disney+ show; and ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ where he will be back as Reed Richards.

Danny Ramirez is famous for playing Joaquin Torres in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ and ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ and Lieutenant Mickey “Fanboy” Garcia in ‘Top Gun: Maverick.’ He also played Manny Alvarez in ‘The Last of Us.’ We will next see him alongside Jeffrey Wright and Antony Starr in the biographical film ‘Samo Lives,’ which will show Jean-Michel Basquiat’s rise in the New York City art scene during the 1980s.

Todd Haynes is known for exploring LGBTQ themes in his works. Among his well-known feature directorials are ‘Carol,’ ‘May December,’ ‘Far from Heaven,’ and ‘Velvet Goldmine.’
