As a documentary series revisiting one of the most baffling missing cases in history, Hulu’s ‘Her Last Broadcast: The Abduction of Jodi Huisentruit’ can only be described as intriguing. That’s because it explores every aspect of the titular 27-year-old’s disappearance from right outside her home in the early morning of June 27, 1995, just for her to never be seen again. Therefore, of course, it features not only all prominent people of interest in her ordeal but also a couple of rather similar cases, including those of Deidre Christine Harm and Rene Marie Williams.
Deidre Harm and Rene Williams Both Went Missing in the Dead of Night
It was November 16, 1984, when Deidre Christine Harm was born in Woodstock, Illinois, to Gail Gosch and Scott Harm in a very affectionate, caring, loving, as well as supportive environment. She was reportedly a bubbly, free-spirited individual who never hesitated to help others, even if she had to give them the shirt off her back to do so, making her a pillar of society. Things did change for her a little in 2004 as she reportedly accidentally fell pregnant with her daughter Vegas, who came into this world mere months after her mother turned 21 in 2005.

By all accounts, despite the fact that Deidre was quite young, she had great maternal instincts, enabling her to move into a new apartment as well as land a job while also caring for Vegas full-time. Thus, when the young 21-year-old mother decided to go on a night out with a few close friends so as to let loose for the first time in a while on June 10, 2006, it was rather well deserved. Little did anybody know she would never return, be heard from, or seen alive again – she was last spotted bar hopping downtown, including at The Body Shop and The Finish Line Tavern.
As for Rene Williams, born on February 1, 1970, she was leading a comfortable, happy, and stable life by the time 2007 had rolled around, thanks to her being a hard-working family woman. The 37-year-old resided with her boyfriend Tim Brooke, daughter Cheahala, as well as sons Levi and Kodi, all the while dedicating herself to her job at the Eagles Lodge on Highway 14. But alas, it was from here that she disappeared on March 13, 2007, after last being seen at 1:30 am, following which she had even called Tim to let him know she was getting ready to come home. Her car was still outside the establishment in Ava, Missouri, when authorities arrived after she was reported missing.
While Deidre Harm’s Remains Have Been Found, Rene Williams is Still Missing
When Deidre failed to return home following her night out without any calls or texts to let her loved ones know she was okay, they knew something was wrong because this wasn’t like her. Therefore, they filed a missing person’s report the very next day, leaving not only the police but the entire nation perplexed due to a seeming lack of any criminal or circumstantial evidence. All detectives learned is that she was last seen talking to an unidentified man at the Finish Line Tavern, still wearing her square-necked black knit top with a statement turquoise purse.
A composite sketch of this unidentified male was subsequently drawn and released to the public in the hopes of acquiring some solid leads after local efforts failed, but to no avail. There was an extensive search for Deidre, but it only culminated over 5 months later when her skeletal remains were found roughly 6 miles away in Seneca Township by some hunters. Unfortunately, even though there were indications of trauma on her bones, her cause of death could never be identified owing to decomposition and the fact that the trauma could be post-mortem. Coming to Rene, despite the best efforts of investigators and loved ones alike, she has sadly never been found.
Deidre Harm and Rene Williams’ Case Largely Remains Unsolved
According to official records, although Deidre’s cause of death was never ascertained, her manner of death was ruled a homicide not long after her discovery, owing to the location of her remains. She was found in a wooded area without her belongings – she was identified through dental records, making detectives hypothesize she had been killed before being deliberately dumped. That’s when they began zeroing in on the stranger the 21-year-old mother was last seen talking to, yet it wasn’t until 3 years later that they got a breakthrough thanks to a tip from a local resident. This possible person of interest was identified as 36-year-old Christopher Revak, a suspected serial killer, a former volunteer firefighter, and a Taney County Ambulance District EMT.
We specify a suspected serial killer because he was an active person of interest in not only the 1995 disappearance of Jodi Huisentruit and the 2007 vanishing of Rene, but also at least two other cases. The truth is his features were “strikingly similar” to the male in the composite sketch, yet he was never arrested since there was no clear evidence connecting him to Deidre or her alleged homicide. However, Christopher’s standing was drastically different when it came to Rene’s case because he was a known patron of her workplace, Eagles Lodge, and was reportedly even there on the fateful 2007 night.
Then there’s the fact that his DNA was recovered from the sidewalk outside this establishment, and traces of the alleged victim’s blood as well as saliva were also found in his home during the execution of a search warrant. The then-36-year-old was subsequently arrested on the charge of second-degree murder in connection with Rene’s disappearance and death on July 25, 2009. However, before Christopher could properly be questioned for either Rene’s case, Deidre’s, or Jodi’s with this incriminating evidence in tow, he died by suicide – he hung himself in his Douglas County Jail cell the day after his arrest. Therefore, despite the fact that officials are certain of his guilt, Deidre Harm’s and Rene Williams’ cases remain unsolved.
