Destani and Diamond Have Always Admired Their Mother for Her Perseverance
Ni’Cola Mitchell was just 16 years old when she gave birth to her eldest daughter, Destani. She has shared that while she was not in the right relationship at the time, her daughter became her greatest blessing. Soon after, her second daughter, Diamond, was born. In 2003, Ni’Cola welcomed a third daughter, Dionni, who sadly passed away just a few days after birth. Destani and Diamond grew up watching their mother rise against all odds. After leaving a domestic abuse situation, Ni’Cola raised them as a single mother and went on to become a celebrated author admired by many.
As she built her platform, she also launched Girls Who Brunch, a mission close to her heart. During this time, Diamond played an active role, often accompanying her mother to events and witnessing the impact firsthand, while Destani supported from afar during her college years. When Ni’Cola was diagnosed with cancer, both daughters stood firmly by her side. They became her constant source of strength, encouraging her at every step and serving as her loudest cheerleaders.
Destani and Diamond Share a Special Bond With Their Mother Even Today
Destani and Diamond Lynn have both made their mother incredibly proud, and the sisters remain a constant presence in her life. They often visit her in Atlanta, Georgia, to spend quality time together. Whether it’s going out for lunch or enjoying days with extended family, the two of them make sure their mother always feels loved and special. Destani is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University, a historically Black public university in Texas known for its strong academic and cultural legacy. While she keeps much of her personal life private, she is also a devoted dog mom to Coco Chanel, who is adored by Ni’Cola and the entire family.
Diamond, on the other hand, has built her path in the beauty and fashion industry. She is the owner of Raw Wigs, a hair salon based in Sandy Springs, Georgia, where she focuses on growing her business and brand. She herself has a great sense of style and has partnered with brands like Luv Me Hair. She is respectful of her Jamaican heritage and even took a trip there in 2024 to learn more about her culture. She loves the relationship she has with her family and is grateful to have them in her life.
