Destiny Da’Janae Orr-Clark was a 19-year-old smart woman who had her whole life ahead of her. However, her life came to an abrupt halt in May 2018, when she was shot in Davenport, Iowa. The investigation that followed soon revealed that it was a case of armed robbery. Investigation Discovery’s ‘The Murder Tapes: A Date With Destiny’ dives deeper into the circumstances surrounding the murder and how social media gradually helped the detectives find the people involved in the crime. It further features emotional interviews with her loved ones and the officials who worked tirelessly on the case.
Destiny Orr-Clark Was in the Passenger Seat When She Was Shot
On May 6, 1998, Shernail Clark and Willie D. Orr were overjoyed to welcome their daughter, Destiny Da’Janae Orr-Clark, into their lives. She grew up in a loving household in Davenport, Iowa. Unfortunately, the relationship between her parents didn’t work out, and they eventually parted ways. Shernail found love again on meeting Albert Mayweathers, and they soon got married. Shernail had always maintained a strong bond with her siblings, Almonie and Almya Mayweathers, Sharmainee McDowell, Shawntiez Levell Bell, and Seryanna Cutkomp. According to Shernail, Destiny was an intelligent person. She was also a sports lover, which became evident during her time at Sudlow Junior High. There, she played basketball and ran track, in addition to participating in parades.

When Destiny was studying at West High School in Davenport, Iowa, she was a part of the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program before graduating in 2016. She stepped into the professional world at a relatively early age and worked at Wendy’s and the downtown Radisson. Whenever Destiny had the chance, she loved immersing herself in singing and spending time with her loved ones. In her late teens, she entered into a relationship with Adrian Lard, which led to the birth of her son, Zay’mere. Unfortunately, she was devastated when he suddenly passed away. Destiny was gradually returning to her usual life when everything turned upside down on May 4, 2018.
Destiny was in a car with her friend, Terrence Murphy, at the 1000 block of East 36th Street in Davenport, Iowa. Shockingly, around 12:31 am, Destiny was shot by a car passing by, leading Terrence to call 911. When help arrived, an unresponsive Destiny was rushed to the hospital, where she sadly passed away shortly after. Detectives at the location discovered Terrence’s vehicle in the roadway. They noted that the passenger-side window was shattered, and there were multiple gunshot holes in the car. According to official records, they found several shell casings at the scene and Destiny’s cell phone inside the vehicle. The autopsy reportedly revealed that she died from multiple gunshot wounds.
A Robbery Plot Was Uncovered Through Witness Accounts and Mobile Data
When officials first arrived, they questioned Terrence to learn more about the shooters. According to his statements, the shooter was driving a Chevy SUV along with another person as they passed Terrence’s car. He reportedly admitted that Destiny came there to sell marijuana before they were robbed. When detectives later recovered footage from a nearby home, they confirmed that the shooter was driving a black SUV. In the early hours of May 4, 2018, law enforcement reportedly apprehended Destiny’s ex-boyfriend, Cameron, possessing a .32 caliber pistol, near the hospital. He was later ruled out as a suspect after his alibi was corroborated. As per court records, the digital forensic report of Destiny’s mobile phone reportedly revealed that just a few days before the murder, she was speaking to a man named Keith Smith on Facebook.

According to investigative records, Keith was supposed to purchase marijuana from Destiny on the day of the murder. Detectives noticed that his profile picture had another man beside him, who was identified as Jayvontae. When Jayvontae was finally located and questioned, he claimed not to have any involvement in the crime. Official records state that he admitted to being visited by a man named Arthur Lobley at his house. He insisted that he was with his girlfriend on the night of May 3 and the early hours of May 4. Further investigation uncovered that Arthur was actually Keith on Facebook. When Arthur was questioned, he reportedly admitted to setting up a meeting with Destiny to buy drugs, but he claimed that she never showed up. Police records indicate that investigators then received a tip from the aunt of Jayvontae’s girlfriend.
The aunt informed them that it was actually Arthur and another juvenile named Craig Wayne Coleman, who had planned the robbery at her house. Craig was arrested on March 2, 2019, and charged with first-degree murder, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, and first-degree robbery. During his interrogation, he confessed that on that fateful day, he was first picked up by Jayvontae, while Arthur was already in the passenger seat. Investigative reports state that Craig told the police that they later picked Jayvontae’s girlfriend and then dropped the couple off. He reportedly continued that Arthur then drove him to 36th Street, where they robbed Destiny. Craig stated that while driving away, he thought Terrence had a firearm. Consequently, Arthur turned around the car and shot at Terrence and Destiny. Arthur was already in prison for unrelated charges when he was indicted on the exact charges as Craig.
While Arthur Lobley is Serving His Sentence, Craig W. Coleman is Out on Parole Today
Craig avoided a trial by entering a plea deal on September 24, 2019. He pleaded guilty to first-degree theft (a Class C felony), and in exchange, the prosecutors dismissed the more serious charges against him. They also reportedly secured his testimony against Arthur as part of the agreement. In December 2019, Craig was sentenced to 10 years in prison and received credit for the time he had already served. On January 6, 2020, the defense had filed a motion for reconsideration of his sentence. However, the court eventually denied it. Just like Craig, Arthur also pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, first-degree theft, first-degree robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon. On September 2, 2020, Arthur received a 25-year term in prison for robbery.

As per court records, Arthur must serve a minimum of 70% of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole/work release. He was also sentenced to 10 years in prison for each of the charges of intimidation, theft, and voluntary manslaughter. Additionally, Arthur’s sentence consisted of another 5-year term in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. All of his sentences are to be served consecutively, totaling up to 60 years in prison. Furthermore, the court ordered him to pay $150,000 in restitution. According to Craig’s prison records, he was granted parole on April 15, 2025, with his tentative discharge date being February 28, 2029. As of writing, he is leading a quiet life. Arthur is currently incarcerated at Anamosa State Penitentiary in Anamosa, Iowa. He must serve his sentence until at least September 1, 2036.
