It was on November 17, 1974, in Sacramento, California, that Durek Verrett was born as Derek David Verrett to Sheilah “Veruschka Urquhart” Farmer and David Benjamin Verrett. According to his own accounts, his parents divorced when he was around 3 years old, following which he was primarily raised by his allegedly uber-successful architect father in Foster City. The entire ordeal was undeniably really difficult for Durek, yet he has since indicated he is kind of glad for it because it proved to be a pivotal “rite of passage (for him) to become a shaman.” In other words, it helped him determine his calling, so he subsequently started embracing himself as a professional alternative therapist and a resolute practitioner of neoshamanism. His goal has allegedly always been to help people alleviate any negativity or pain from their bodies, so he claims to work through their internal energies upon receiving messages from spirits.
Durek first started using the reworked spelling of his name (from Derek) in 2013 because he truly felt like he was a new person, and then he legally changed it roughly a year later.
