Despite the countless films, songs, and productions about love that have essentially been created since the beginning of time, what many still don’t understand is that it is both a need and a luxury. That’s why some individuals go to extreme lengths in search of it – like Elise Benson on TLC’s ’90 Day: Hunt for Love’ – while those who already have it know they need to make consistent efforts to keep it in their lives. The latter aspect is part of what TLC’s ’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’ explores, and Elise is now glad to be on this side of the coin with an Australian hunk by the name of Joshua Lawson.
Elise and Joshua’s Romance Has Been a Speedy Love Affair
While ’90 Days: Hunt For Love’ premiered on our television screens in May 2025, it was actually filmed in 7 months prior, in October 2024, at the Kore Tulum Retreat & Spa Resort in Tulum, Mexico. Therefore, by the time it aired its final ‘Tell All’ special on September 1, the majority of the cast had long moved on with their lives, amongst whom was none other than the fan-favorite Elise Benson. However, it wasn’t until early November that it came to light the 32-year-old is now joining ’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’ because she has found love with 39-year-old Joshua Lawson of Sydney, Australia.
It turns out that by the time the latter show started filming around the summer of 2025, Elise had been dating Joshua for over 5 months after initially connecting with him through Instagram. Almost everything seemed to align for them, which is why she decided it was time for her to finally meet her beau in person by traveling approximately 10,000 miles – halfway across the world. But alas, neither of them could have imagined that their differences in lifestyle, outside noise from friends, and the pressure she put on herself due to her history of broken engagements would really impact their bond.
After all, even though Elise and Joshua had only been together for 5 months, they had seemingly been open with one another about their core family, friends’ opinions, dating history, and passions. Yet, knowing and experiencing are two different things, which they got to learn firsthand almost from the moment they met – there was a clear attraction between them, but there was also a sense of something else. Nevertheless, from what we can tell based on their respective current online standing, it appears as if they were gradually able to make things work by putting in genuine efforts for each other.
Elise Benson is a Rising Public Figure, Whereas Joshua Lawson Prefers to Lead a Quiet Life
Although Elise is a proud native of Boston, Massachusetts, she has been based in Miami, Florida, since the mid-to-late 2010s, where she has worked hard to establish a career as a fashion and runway model. One of her very first shoots back in 2017 was reportedly for Ducati, which she followed with several other shoots for various brands while also unapologetically embracing her passion for travel. She visited Hawaii in January 2020, New Seabury in Massachusetts in July, and different areas across Florida, such as Boca Raton, Siesta Key, Delray Beach, and Fort Lauderdale, in the ensuing couple of years.
During this period, Elise also spread her wings to evolve into a licensed Mortgage Loan Officer and Real Estate Agent, all the while continuing to model and travel to places like the UK, California, and New Hampshire.
The animal lover and music enthusiast did get engaged in 2022, but they sadly ended up calling it quits by the end of 2023 for reasons unknown – she has never revealed what happened between them. In the year that followed, Elise primarily focused on her career, working with notable brands such as Revolve, Sweetest Stitch, Velo Activewear, Hurrem Hammam Wellness & Spa, and Sasha Therese. She even attended F1 and PGS events, as well as walked the runway during Miami Swim Week.
Elise further started establishing herself as a reality star by agreeing to be a part of TLC’s ’90 Day: Hunt For Love,’ where she was admittedly vulnerable, honest, and unapologetically herself at every step. Since then, she has been to Lake Atitlán, Guatemala, in February 2025, Palm Springs, California, with We Care Spa that same month, Bimini Island, Bahamas, in April, and Mykonos, Greece, in July for shoots with Bikini Crush Swimwear and Lady Lux Swimwear. She has even worked with the Boca Raton Resort & Club, the Jaswely Clothing Brand, and Andi Bagus Swimwear in the fall and winter of 2025, all the while maintaining her romantic relationship. On the other hand, though, all we know about Joshua is that he is an adventure-seeking, fun-loving yacht broker employed at One Brokerage in Sydney, Australia, where he prefers to lead a quiet life.
