If there’s one thing absolutely nobody can deny, it’s that the world of online dating is a double-edged sword owing to the way it removes all limitations to help people form connections. The relationship that honestly embodies this perfectly is the long-distance one between Emma Perry and Ziad El Yahyaoui from TLC’s ’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’ season 8. That’s because while they had affection, care, and love, they held significant secrets from one another until after they met in person for the very first time following a whirlwind romance.
Emma and Ziad’s Relationship Has Been Rather Tumultuous
Although neither Emma nor Ziad has admitted precisely when they first came across one another, we do know they met on an international dating site, following which they quickly fell head over heels in love. The 28-year-old is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but has seemingly long been residing in Los Angeles, California. So, she was based there when she fell for her beau’s innate charm before they really opened up to one another about their ambitions, past experiences, and future familial expectations. They appeared to align on everything.
Therefore, by the time the summer of 2025 rolled around, Emma decided it was time for her to go to Marrakech, Morocco, to meet her boyfriend and hopefully come back with a ring on her finger. However, the moment she landed, things took a turn for the worse because of Ziad’s behavior towards her, which transformed into an even bigger issue as her secret came to light. She hadn’t told him she had previously been engaged to another Moroccan man, so he was obviously heartbroken when he found out, leading to a lot of tension between the couple. Yet, from what we can tell, it seems like they were able to work things out by having some much-needed open conversations with respect, trust, and understanding. In other words, they appear to still be together and stronger than ever.

While Emma has consciously kept the details about her background and upbringing well away from the limelight so as to protect her loved ones’ privacy, we do know she hails from a tight-knit family. Her parents have seemingly always done their best to provide for her in every way to lead a comfortable life, which has shaped the way she hopes to be treated in the future too. In fact, she openly calls herself “Princess Emma,” and is presently leading a jet-setting lifestyle while ostensibly trying to establish a career as a rising travel influencer as well as a public figure. It appears as if she hopes to turn this into a full-time profession, which would persist in the long run.
Emma is a proud native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but she has seemingly happily been based out of Los Angeles, California, since at least the early 2020s. Like his girlfriend Emma, it appears as if Ziad also prefers to keep the details of his background out of the public eye for privacy reasons, but he also hails from a supportive, tight-knit family. That’s how the Marrakech, Morocco, native has been able to build a life for himself as a cooking enthusiast, golfing fan, motorbike aficionado, travel lover, and professional photographer. From what we can tell, he has explored several different cities in his hometown over the years and even visited Qatar and the United Arab Emirates in December 2022. He has even earned a certificate for graduating from the Musée d’Art Culinaire Marocain Cooking Course with honors in 2025, which is something he is extremely proud of. In other words, Ziad leads a comfortable life today, spending most of his free time either with his family, pursuing his passions, or enjoying nights out with friends.
