Mark Walker and His Family Are Preserving Emma’s Legacy Through a Scholarship
Mark and Jill Walker’s lives were filled with joy when they welcomed their daughter, Emma Jane, and son, Evan, into their lives. The parents always made sure to show their support for their children and cheer them on every step of the way in their lives. However, their hearts were shattered when Emma was found dead in her bedroom on November 21, 2016. The investigation quickly revealed that the killer was none other than her former boyfriend, William Riley Gaul. During his interview on the show, Mark recalled that at the beginning of Emma and Riley’s relationship, he was well-mannered. However, when his behavior changed, Mark and his wife admittedly took away their daughter’s phone to stop her from speaking to him.
After Emma’s death, Mark and his family worked hard to raise awareness about domestic violence, highlighting the physical and psychological consequences that individuals might face when they are in an abusive relationship. In May 2018, they announced that they were raising funds for the Emma Walker Memorial Scholarship. Through the scholarship, Mark and Jill aim to help students at Central High School achieve their dreams of pursuing careers in the medical or healthcare field. In 2026, their efforts marked the 6th year of raising funds for the scholarship. Beyond that, Mark has chosen to step away from the spotlight. As of writing, he appears to be leading a fulfilling life with his beloved wife and son.
Jill Walker Keeps Her Daughter’s Memories Alive by Sharing Her Story
Jill Kading Walker still remembers the day she found Emma unresponsive. While speaking about the time Riley was arrested, the mother said she was relieved, believing he would be held accountable for what he did. Although she was happy when he was convicted and sentenced to life in prison, she also stated that it would never bring her daughter back. After the profound loss, she stood beside her husband as they helped raise funds for the scholarship in Emma’s name. She is now also focused on sharing the story of her daughter with others, advocating for individuals who have experienced domestic violence. Currently, Jill actively shares information about fundraisers, highlighting her passion for helping others.
In September 2025, Jill reminisced about her memories with Emma, writing, “Happy National Daughter’s Day. Love and miss Emma beyond words. It happens to fall on the same day of National Day of Remembrance for homicide victims.” By March 2026, she further shared, “This month is dedicated to Emma, marking her 26th birthday on the 20th and Emma Walker Day on the 24th.” Now, Jill seeks solace in the company of her husband, Mark, who has stood by her through every dark phase of her life. She also shares a playful and unbreakable bond with her beloved son, Evan. In her free time, she loves immersing herself in the beauty of nature, often hiking and spending time outdoors.
Evan Walker is Thriving as an Entrepreneur and Real Estate Agent Today
Evan Walker has carved out a unique path for himself with immense dedication and ambition. He graduated from Central High School in Knoxville, Tennessee, and later completed his formal education, which helped him build a strong foundation for his professional trajectory. In 2022, he joined Realty Executives Associates as a Real Estate Agent. In that role, he is responsible for helping clients buy and sell incredible properties. Besides that, Evan’s entrepreneurial drive paved the way for him to become the co-founder of the venture Rives and Walker Builders in August 2026, alongside another Knoxville native, Gabe Rives.
With Evan and Gabe’s collective experience in real estate, project management, and residential and commercial construction, they are offering customers services such as remodeling and renovations through the business. Evan also frequently shares listings for several properties, highlighting his professionalism. In his personal life, his world revolves around his pup, who is a constant source of joy. Whenever he gets leisure time, he enjoys going on fishing trips. Apart from that, Evan prefers to keep further details of his life out of the public eye.
