It was on November 28, 2023, when 27-year-old Morgan Duncan suddenly disappeared from his apartment complex in the 200 block of Springtree Drive in Columbia, South Carolina, and was never seen again. His mother reported him missing within days, as explored in Netflix’s ‘Missing: Dead or Alive’ season 2, kickstarting a complex investigation that initially yielded more questions than answers. Ultimately, though, officials were able to ascertain that he had been killed at the hands of someone he was once friends with — Eric “Easy” Donnell Greene, resulting in his arrest months before the remains were even found.
Eric “Easy” Greene and Morgan Duncan Were Once Friends
A native of Richland County, South Carolina, Eric “Easy” Greene reportedly first met Morgan Duncan in the early 2020s, after the latter had moved to Columbia to lead an independent life. The latter was diagnosed with schizophrenia, so he had to be on medications for stability, which he had learned to not only accept but also manage well since it enabled him to be comfortable. However, according to the show, he soon got involved with hard drugs to such an extent that he often used to take them on credit from local drug dealers.

Therefore, when Morgan went missing, and investigators found videos on his Facebook profile referencing a seemingly close friend named Easy, they decided to call him in for a routine interview. During the session, Eric asserted that he and the 27-year-old were indeed friends despite their 14-year age difference, so he knew about his substance abuse, his credits, and his worries about paying them off. According to police reports, he claimed the young man owed $1,000 to one local drug dealer and $300 to another, which is why he likely seemed out of sorts following Thanksgiving, but he had no idea about his disappearance.
However, everything turned upside down in February 2024 as it came to light that Eric was reportedly one of the people Morgan owed money to, leading to an intense argument, which culminated in murder. According to records, Morgan had visited his downstairs neighbor’s place with a friend on November 28, 2023, where Eric had allegedly been residing as compensation for a debt owed to him by that particular resident. Per reports, Eric and Morgan got into a fight about the latter’s credit, during which Eric strangled Morgan to death. He then disposed of his remains in a nearby wooded area, which weren’t found until June 2024.

The witnesses to reveal all these details to investigators were the neighbor, James Kelly, and the friend, Altariq “Jersey” Cuffie, resulting in Eric’s arrest for murder on February 1, 2024. Around 5 days later, a 38-year-old woman by the name of Julivia “Sunshine” Waller was also charged with accessory to murder after the fact because her vehicle had allegedly been used to move Morgan’s remains. After Eric pleaded not guilty to the single count against him, claiming he was being portrayed as someone he is not – a merciless drug dealer – he was denied bail and held in a county jail until he stood trial.

During his court proceedings, Eric’s defense team tried to maintain his innocence, but the prosecutors asserted Morgan was a vulnerable individual who had been taken advantage of. On July 17, 2025, he was found guilty of murder, following which he was sentenced to 57 years in prison without the possibility of parole, yet with credit for time already served. He didn’t testify in his own defense but did give a statement during his sentencing hearing, still adamantly asserting that he did not have a hand in Morgan’s disappearance or murder in any manner.
“I told my lawyers, I’m like, ‘I want to testify,'” Eric said. “They told me it wouldn’t be a good idea. But now I’m glad that I get to at least speak my peace because I did not do nothing wrong.” Nevertheless, the verdict against him remained, so at the age of 43, he is currently incarcerated at the mixed-security Kirkland Correctional Institution in Columbia, South Carolina, where he is expected to remain until his projected release date of January 16, 2081. We should mention that his co-defendant, Julivia “Sunshine” Waller, was acquitted of the charge against her due to a reasonable doubt about her direct involvement in the case.
