Farmer Wants a Wife Season 3 Episode 8 Recap: The Last Solo Dates

Love is in the country air, and so is tension as season 3 of Fox’s ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’ reaches a thrilling turning point in episode 8. Titled ‘The Last Solo Dates,’ it follows the emotional journey of the four handsome farmers as they approach the finishing line of this life-changing experience. That’s because they are close to choosing the final two women, amongst whom one could one day be their forever life partner. However, before any decisions are made, they get to go on one final solo date. These dates are set against the backdrop of a camping site at a Texas ranch, and every glance and every word matters since it will all help the farmers attain some clarity.

The Final Solo Dates Bring to Light Some Tough Questions

The episode commences with host Kimberly Williams-Paisley pulling aside the farmers to ask them how they feel before their upcoming final dates. Jay Wood remarks that at this point in the experience, he is ready to get answers to some deep questions. He and Matt Warren agree that things are getting serious. Similarly, John Sansone and Colton Hendricks both open up about seeing potential long-term relationships with the women on their respective farms. The latter even expresses that he sees an opportunity with all three of his ladies. The host then urges them to consider their next steps carefully before making any big decisions. She next turns her attention to Juliana, who confesses she feels conflicted because John has shown no urgency to choose her. Therefore, she can’t help but wonder if she should even stick around anymore, just for the host to suggest that maybe she should stick around until after his date.

In the meantime, John takes Claire roping for their date and notes that both of them should know each other more personally. The latter is similarly excited for their alone time and feels they need to have some serious conversations at this point. After enjoying their date, they indulge in a serious conversation where John shares that his values revolve around faith, family, and work. However, Claire points out that she is not a religious individual, but she is open to learning more about it. When John reveals that he is a traditional person, she opens up about how she had to worry in her previous relationship for her partner to stick by her. He reassures her that once they are in a relationship, he is always going to support her. Claire realizes that despite their different paths, both of them have the same core values.

Similarly, John is surprised that his and Claire’s connection is a prominent example of how opposites attract. Although this is not something he is looking for in a relationship, he has to see where this eventually leads. This has made it harder for him since he has to think about a lot of things. Meanwhile, Colton has taken Keeley on the ranch for horse riding on their date. The farmer sees potential in her and hopes she will open up a little because she is usually reserved. As the duo immerse themselves in their date, Keeley observes that there is a lot of pressure on this solo date since it’s the final one, and she cares about him. When she asks him if he can visualize her in this lifestyle, he expresses that she fits in naturally and looks very pretty. When he asks the same question, she reveals that this is the life she always wanted for her future kids.

Honest Conversations During the Solo Dates Reveal Vulnerabilities

The conversation gets deeper as Keeley decides to reveal her Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) diagnosis to Colton. She had never shared this with any guy before, but the nervousness subsides when he eagerly asks her to explain the condition. She explains that although she can have kids in the future, the process may be difficult. Colton quickly reassures her that he is more than blessed with the presence of his son. If, for some reason, he is not blessed enough to welcome more children, he may never raise any questions. This sends a wave of relief over Keeley and ultimately makes both of them feel more connected to one another. As Colton opens up about how happy he is about her presence, he decides to express himself with a loving and passionate kiss.

On the other hand, Jay is going fishing with Rissa for their solo date. While the latter is delighted to find out if they can work out in the long run, the farmer is willing to know if she is ready to settle down in farm life. Jay’s doubt stems from their past conversation when she revealed her love for traveling. He feels that handling a farm needs responsibility, and he cannot always leave it behind to travel. During their conversation, Rissa discloses that family and a long-term marriage are crucial to her since her parents divorced when she was five. Jay agrees with her that it is a lifetime commitment and finally asks her if she still likes to travel. When she states that she wants to take her family to travel and make new memories, the farmer honestly confesses that he is a homebody.

Although Rissa understands that Jay does not travel to take care of the farm animals, it makes her nervous. This revelation puts the farmer in a tough spot since he does not want her to change what she loves because of him. The focus shifts to Matt’s date as he takes Chelsie axe-throwing. Matt has liked her from the beginning. He feels that after his straightforward confession the previous night and the date, both of them will let their guard down. Similarly, Chelsi also likes him and notes that both of them need to step up. It soon comes to light that none of them had done axe-throwing before, and she ends up winning owing to her background as a softball player. Matt is happy to see their connection progressing in the last 24 hours, since this is what he hoped.

Two Women Are Eliminated As the Farmers Figure Out What They Really Desire From a Life Partner

Chelsi eventually divulges how her past heartbreak led her to keep her guards up, but she is working on it. Matt expresses his appreciation and states that he is trying to speed things up, unlike his steady approach. He adds that although it is difficult, it will be worth it if he finds a forever partner like his parents had. She agrees that good things take time, and the duo sneaks away to share a romantic kiss. While Matt feels they really connect well and have the potential to share a life together, his move makes Chelsi optimistic about finding love. Meanwhile, Jay’s date has taken a turn because their visions are not aligning. He expresses his concern regarding Rissa’s traveling and explains how he is always going to be concerned about his farm animals. Jay states that he does not want to stop her from doing what she loves.

With that being said, Jay says she is a beautiful person, but it is better if they part ways. While Rissa expresses her understanding, she feels disappointed because they had a connection. At the end of the day, she feels Jay understands better if she is a good fit for the farm. In his confessional, the farmer says that although it is tough to let her go, he can fully focus on Karina and Grace. He can now begin to figure out who his future wife is going to be. As everyone returns to the farm after their date, John shares a romantic kiss with Claire before she goes in. He observes that they match each other’s levels in conversations and humor, and they had a fabulous time. Jay is the first farmer to narrow his choice to two final ladies. While Grace is happy that only two of them remain, Karina is trying to protect herself despite wanting to be hopeful.

As the women open up about their solo dates amongst one another, Jordyn admits to being scared since time is slipping away. She feels it is high time for things between her and Matt to take a romantic turn. At John’s farm, he notices Juliana sitting alone in the yard. The farmer decides to speak to her since she is in a tougher spot than Lily and Claire. Juliana wastes no time expressing that she was a late arrival to the farm, so she didn’t actually get enough time to get to know him. She then declares it is right for her to leave since it is fair to the other ladies. John agrees with her and bids her goodbye with a last hug. In her exit interview, Juliana opens up that she needed time to feel comfortable, which they lacked. She adds that she does not regret it and wishes him the best. John compliments her honesty and notes that sometimes things simply do not work out.

The Pressure Rises as Two Farmers Try to Figure Out How to Narrow Down Their Choices

Since both Jay and John have two ladies on the farm, Kimberly pushes the other two farmers to focus on aligning their hearts. Colton and Matt receive a letter from her informing them to decide tonight which two ladies have the strongest connection with them, because they will soon be meeting the ladies’ loved ones. While the latter observes they are out of time, the former is worried about making the right decision. Matt has taken his ladies to pick finger limes on his farm to figure out where his heart lies. He notes that Jordyn is gorgeous and is his type. However, his experience with Chelsi is completely opposite. On the other hand, he feels Halleh has been like a friend during this experience. Although they have gotten close, Matt is unsure if she can be his wife.

On the other hand, Colton indulges the ladies by asking them to tear up an arena on his ranch. He remarks that each of them has individual qualities that he loves, which makes his decision-making process quite challenging. He notes that staying around Bailee is quite fun, and they had an instant connection from the first night. Meanwhile, he can visualize his life being adventurous with Zoe. He confesses that Keeley has surprised him with how she is a natural at getting along and states it is hard not to like her. Amid everything, doubt has begun brewing in Bailee’s mind because she feels he is flirtatious with the other ladies. Since she does not feel pursued, she pulls him aside to seek reassurance and express her feelings. She reveals to him that her spark is fading, and she is upset since he is unable to see it.

Bailee gets emotional and states that she is not okay with the situation as she initially thought it would be. Colton acknowledges that it is also hard for him since he has much to think about, and tells her they can speak again tonight. After she departs, he notes that although he wants to reassure the girl, he cannot choose all three of them. After his solo date with Claire, John has decided to spend some alone time with Lily before they meet each other’s family members. The farmer has had a spark with her since the beginning and wants to see if their morals and values align. As they discuss what they have to offer in a relationship, Lily reveals the tight-knit bond of her parents. She soon realizes that they both have the same core values and a strong faith. When she says it aloud and adds that she sees potential in them, John agrees with her.

Heartbreaking Departures Pave the Final Steps Towards a Lasting Love

This conversation makes John realize that while his connection with Lily feels natural, he also gets along well with Claire. However, this brings up the biggest question of who he wants to choose, since he believes that both of them have the potential of being the love of his life. The focus then shifts to Matt’s farm, where the farmer is having dinner with all the women vying to be his potential life partner. While Jordyn is nervous about where she stands with him, Chelsi is both confident and confused after her solo date with him. On the other hand, Halleh opens up about her belief that the bond she shares with Matt is like that of best friends, yet more, and she wants to know if he is on the same page. If he is not, she is ready to leave since there is bound to be someone out there for her, and she wants to find them and settle down. The ladies excuse themselves when she asks Matt for a chat. She asks him if he can see their connection progressing because they are already so comfortable around each other.

However, Matt admits that although they get along well, he doesn’t feel as if there are any sparks of romance between them. The answer leaves Halleh in tears, following which they bid an emotional goodbye, expressing that they will miss each other. She states she is proud to put herself out there and thanks him for an incredible summer. Matt remarks that it is hard for him to send Halleh home, but he trusts the process and his heart. It is now Colton’s turn to make a decision, yet he finds himself stumped as he knows all the women at his farm are truly incredible. Bailee recalls his uncertainty from their earlier conversation and once again asks him for a one-on-one conversation. She truthfully expresses that she wants to feel pursued, but it is not what she receives from him. Colton honestly states that he is currently indecisive, and if he were in her place, he would also get tired of this.

Bailee really likes Colton but says she loves herself enough to go back home if he is still unsure. Both of them express how glad they are to have met each other as they bid goodbye. Bailee reveals in her exit interview how she hoped the farmer would say what she wanted him to, but she is glad to get the clarity she needed and is walking away with her head held high. In his confessional, Colton accepts that it is hard to see her go, but on the bright side, he still has two great ladies on the farm. The episode eventually comes to an end as he expresses his excitement about meeting their families before making the final big decision that will change his life. So, it’s no surprise that everyone is now awaiting the next episode to see how the farmers are going to navigate their connection with the ladies after meeting their loved ones.
