Farmer Wants a Wife Season 3 Episode 3 Recap: Meet the Friends

As Fox’s ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’ season 3 episode 3 kicks off, the journey of four farmers as they try to find the love of their lives continues under the open sky of the countryside. In the episode titled ‘Meet the Friends,’ after three of the men had already decided who to send from their previously chosen picks, we finally learn of Colton’s choice following a heart-to-heart conversation with Taylar. Then, with Matt, John, and Jay’s decision not to send anyone home, their friends step in to provide their insights. Amid everything, one thing is quite clear — love is not as easy as it seems on the farm.

Colton’s Decision Sparks Doubts Among the Women

The episode starts with Colton chatting with Taylar to help him understand if they even have a strong connection. After hearing how her heart skipped a beat during their speed date, he reveals he felt the same, but for a couple of others. He believes he has a good connection and refuses to string Taylar along, expressing that if it came down to her and another, his eyes would sway. She respects his decision but admits she wishes he tried to get to know her more. Nevertheless, since he has eyes for someone, she hopes he will not need anyone else. Although it is tough for Colton to send her home, he knows he has to do so because he is doing this experiment to find his best friend and wife. Taylar then decides that if she has to go home, she will do so while protecting the other girls by letting them know that he has his mind made up already.

After revealing the news, Taylar says her goodbyes with the hope that her person is still somewhere out there. However, the aftermath is that all the women are left without an explanation, wondering if they are wasting their time if he has already made his choice. It has been just a week since all the farmers took their chosen group of women to their farm, but Colton has been the only one to make a choice. However, a new morning brings on a new chapter. On Jay’s farm, everyone assists him with the morning chores. He remarks that the process is hard, and although Grace and him have the strongest connection, he wants to bond with others, too. As Viviane-Lee enjoys her share of the workload, Jay notes that she can fit in with his lifestyle, but he is still looking for that spark. Similarly, he is attracted to Julia but isn’t sure if she can adjust to the kind of life one has on the farm.

Meanwhile, on John’s farm, the women are helping him load hay into the truck for an order as he goes about his work. Although he and Samantha have a spark, he is unsure if she wants to be here. Then, as he observes all the women, he realizes that Chloe has great values, making him eager to find out if she could be the right fit for him. On the other side, as Matt’s women help him plant new vines of passion fruit, he reveals that he had decided not to send anyone home because, in the past, he had rushed into things and is now trying to do better. As everyone jokes with each other while also working hard to get the job done, Jordyn quips that she and Matt will have a slow-burn romance. No matter what, she is willing to wait patiently. Yet, Halleh states someone has to say goodbye to the farm in order for Matt to build a real bond, so she pulls out her expert gardening skills as a way to make him notice her and give her an edge.

With the Help of Close Friends, the Farmers Get Some Much-Needed Clarity

Host Kimberly Williams-Paisley then brings backup for John, Matt, and Jay to help them make some hard decisions. The farmers get together with their closest friends, whose opinions matter to them the most, alongside their women. This is to ensure the friends can get to know everybody on a personal level, following which they can give their advice and help the farmers select one person for a date. If they feel someone has no chance of a future at the farm, they have to send them home. While this prompts Rachel to bring her New York attitude before Matt’s friends, Chloe hopes to make a good impression on John’s loved ones. Julia is nervous because meeting Jay’s friends could make it evident that she is a true city girl, which may result in her having to leave. As John meets his best friend, Richie, and cousin Grant, he discloses that Samatha rejected his kiss during their date, so he wonders if she is there for him or if she has ulterior motives.

On the other hand, John hopes his friends can figure out where Chloe stands because he is unsure if she is the right fit for him despite their bond. After the introduction of his loved ones to his women, Grant asks Samantha if she is okay with speaking with him and Richie in private as they would like to get to know her better. Samantha feels she fits in well with John and John’s friends. However, she admits how shopping, going out to dinner, and socializing are important to her, so she may not be happy moving to this rural area for good. They appreciate her honesty and point out that since John’s farm is 2 hours away from the city, it may be an issue in the future. When they state that John is in the driver’s seat of his car and there is only one steering wheel, Samantha gets concerned. According to her, her needs are just as important as her partner’s in a marriage, and she emphasizes that she is not one to stay in the back seat.

Meanwhile, Matt meets his friends Kienum, Chris, and Shane and expresses his concern about being unsure about Halleh and Rachel. The girls soon arrive and start getting acquainted with his friends, who ask them how ready they are for farm life. Rachel admits that being from New York, she is not used to it, but if she loves someone, she will go with the flow and do what is needed to make things work. Halleh then opens up about how she was surrounded by the most hardworking men growing up, so she learned to be alpha and independent through them, indicating she doesn’t need a lot from others to be happy. In her confessional, she expresses her hope that his friends will tell Matt that she is the right one for him. Upon asking, Matt’s friends inform him that although Rachel is a city girl, she is here for love. They also think that while Halleh is outgoing, she is one of the boys, so he should try to build a connection with her too.

Tough Conversations Unfold as the Farmers Contemplate Their Second Date Picks

Jay introduces his women to his best friend Poppie and cousin Ladarius. As Poppie speaks with Julia, she hopes they will see her soft side instead of her diva side. When she fails to hit a ball properly while playing pool, she loudly accepts defeat and says she does not want to play anymore. On the other hand, T’yana reveals that she will move to the farm only after she is at least engaged. As Jay converses with the girls, he discovers that Viviane-Lee has never been in a relationship. He remarks that he wants to find his wife and not a girlfriend for a fun time. Finally, Poppie believes that although Viviane-Lee is down to earth, there is a “what-if.” Similarly, he informs Jay about T’yana’s moving situation, and they all agree that it will be hard for Julia to adapt to country life. As everyone mingles, John’s close ones initiate a conversation with Chloe.

Chloe tells them that she is looking for love and wants John to realize she has a big heart. After the girls leave the place, Richie informs John that Samantha will not let go of the wheel, and he agrees. They further say that they cannot understand Chloe and advise that if the chemistry feels forced, he has to let go of her. While others have started weighing their decision, back at Colton’s farm, Taylor’s words have left an impression on the ladies. As they discuss, Hope says that Colton having eyes for only one person is concerning, but Bailee expresses in her confessional that she is happy and does not care about this. For her, she has come to the farm for a relationship and not a friendship. It is now time for the farmers to select someone for their second date and decide who they want to send away.

Emotions Run High as Colton Experiences a Romantic Breakthrough

When John asks Chloe out for a date, she is shocked and expresses that it will feel bad if she is sent home. Matt selects Halleh for the date since he wants to determine if it is just friendship or more. Though this makes her nervous, she is ready because she is here to fall in love. Since Jay is torn between Viviane-Lee and Julia, he asks out both of them. While Viviane tries to be positive about this, the latter struggles to keep her composure. Meanwhile, Colton speaks honestly with the ladies about how Taylar made him realize that he wants to know all of them better and give them a fair shot. Although Hope and Zoe become excited about spending time with him, he invites Keeley, leaving them disappointed. Keeley is both excited and upset because she does not feel Colton has eyes for her, and if he does not see her worth, then she does not want either to waste their time.

As Colton and Keeley arrive at their date spot, she expresses that she is nervous and wonders why he chose her. He disclosed that it was because of her red hair and wanted to know more about her. As they discuss how Taylar left, he clarifies the confusion his choice of words caused. In truth, he was caught off guard, but he did not want to mean just one person. As Keeley is relieved and they start to bond more, she reveals that she will not have any problem moving to the farm because she is really close to her family. She says they will string along wherever she goes, and she wants her children to be raised amid nature. Colton asks her if she wants to kiss him as much as he has wanted to kiss her since the first day. With romance brewing, the duo shares a loving kiss, leaving Keeley giddy and excited.

Following His Gut Feeling, John Makes a Tough Decision

Meanwhile, Matt goes on his date with Halleh and asks her what she wants beyond the surface level. Halleh opens up about how she had been in a serious relationship, but she was cheated on. This has made her protective of her heart. As they joke about what Matt wants in his future wife, he expresses his gladness that Halleh came on the date. For Halleh, moving to the farm would be like a dream, and she is happy that they made eye contact. Matt realizes that he really wants to explore their connection more. The focus now shifts to John, who is on a date with Chloe, but she is nervous in the hope that she will be a match for him. They discuss the significance of this experience, and Chloe divulges that she never connected with her father but really appreciates her mother.

John soon realizes that although Chloe is sweet and kind-hearted, she is not right for him. John ultimately makes the big decision and tells Chloe that she is an incredible person, but he cannot envision a future with her. He further adds that she will make anyone happy and appreciates her for coming down to the farm. As she bids goodbye, she is emotional but expresses that John has told her things she wanted to hear, and she hopes someone is there for her. On the other hand, Jay is nervous because he has never been on a double date. When Viviane-Lee jokingly remarks that she feels she is in an interview, he starts wondering why he has lost his words.

He decides to first have a one-on-one conversation with Julia, who is nervous because it may send her away from the farm. He honestly states that he is watching her opening up, but she is reluctant to get her hands dirty. When Julia asks him if he is worried that she will not last in Alabama, he points out the playing pool incident. As he directly asks her if she really wants to be here, the vibes are getting more intense than ever. To much dismay, we will now have to wait for the next episode to find out who Matt and Jay have finally decided to bid goodbye to.
