As the sun sets on another whirlwind season of Fox’s ‘Farmer Wants a Wife,’ season 3’s emotional finale lays all the hearts on the line. Before the four handsome farmers have to take the final step toward choosing their potential wives, they meet the families of their final ladies. These meetings can sway their decision by either revealing the missing puzzle pieces or letting them know who is indeed a good match for them, paving the way to ultimate clarity. Episode 10, titled ‘Meet the Families Part 2/Final Decisions,’ opens with John and Claire preparing to meet each other’s families. SPOILERS AHEAD.
The Path to Love Becomes Harder as Family Visits Stir Difficult Conversations
From the beginning, John had been eager to find clarity about the fundamental differences between him and Claire. As her mother and sister arrive on the farm, the farmer and four of his siblings get acquainted with them. John and Claire’s families then step aside for a deeper conversation with the prospective suitor. When the farmer truthfully reveals that he wants a traditional family, her mother states that she never imagined Claire to be a stay-at-home mother. On Colton’s farm, the farmer and Zoe are eager to meet each other’s families. While the lady meets his parents as well as grandmother, her mother, Jeanette, and sister, Sheyenne, arrive to meet the farmer soon after. While conversing with them, her family makes their admiration for his family clear. The focus then shifts back to John’s farm, where his siblings confirm to Claire that he is compassionate.
In the meantime, Claire’s mom reveals that she raised her with freedom and trust. However, this raises questions for John since he never pictured his future like that. He wants to be on the same page with his future wife about disciplining their kids. On Colton’s farm, his parents are getting to know Zoe better. The latter informs them that her career as a nurse makes it easier for her to move, and it is something that she is willing to do. On the other hand, Colton expresses how impressed he is with Zoe’s smart and career-driven nature. While discussing Claire with his siblings, John reveals his concern about their different upbringings and differences in thinking. However, Luke reassures him that they can always speak about their approach later down the line if things do end up working out. Upon learning her mother’s concerns, Claire also reassures her that they can surely reach a middle ground regarding their difference.
While Jeanette is impressed with Colton and his family, Sheyenne expresses her concern about the farmer’s desire not to rush things. Zoe points out that they haven’t had any conversations about how things might look for them long-term. On the flip side, Colton’s family tells him they like her very much, to which the farmer responds by admitting that he does have a great time with her. After their families’ departure, he and Zoe spend some alone time together by having a final date. Both of them agree that they plan on taking things slow and step toward their future one day at a time. Similarly, John and Claire also set out to spend some quality time together before the big decision. The former brings up his concern about their different upbringings before adding that, despite everything, everyone still turned out fine. However, what keeps them hooked is that they can always be themselves around each other.
Meeting the Parents Brought Forth Some Truths, Bringing the Farmers Closer to Clarity
The focus eventually shifts to Matt’s farm, where he and Chelsi meet each other’s families. After getting acquainted with her mom, Michelle, and her sister, Mecina, Chelsi moves away to speak with his parents, Dana and Terri. She discloses that although she is career-oriented, she is also now ready to start a family. On the other hand, Matt tells her family that both of them tend to take things slowly, which actually works out great for them. Meanwhile, on Jay’s farm, he and Karina welcome their parents for the meeting. While speaking with her parents, Mindy and Shaun, the farmer honestly explains that although he cannot promise that there won’t be tough times, he believes they have built a strong enough foundation to face anything the universe might throw at them. This impresses her father, who appreciates his sincerity. Karina also maintains this sense of honesty by letting Jay’s parents know that the one concern she has about being with him is the move to Alabama. She doesn’t mind the move per se, but she makes it clear that she would need the support of his family as they would be the only people she’d know. In other words, she states she can only move to Alabama if they welcome her.
After their conversations, Chelsi’s mother and sister express how they love that Matt is taking it slow and matching Chelsi’s energy. Similarly, his parents note that she is not only pretty but also smart and sweet. When Matt reveals how much he likes her, his father expresses concern because they need to warm up to each other faster. On the other side of the nation, on Jay’s farm, while Karina’s family tells her they liked him, his parents assert that they can surely visualize Karina and Jay fitting in together. The latter even go as far as to assert that they would have no As Matt and Chelsi set out for their date, she shares how Matt has helped her get out of her comfort zone. Similarly, the farmer says they can always work it out if it’s the right person. When Jay reveals his concern regarding Karina moving during their date, she reassures him that she wants to take the leap because their families are quite similar.
Tough Choices and Tender Truths Bring Hopeful Beginning For Two Farmers
As the second half of the finale episode, titled ‘Final Decisions,’ finally commences, the four farmers make their final decisions. The first to make his choice is Jay, who notes that while he and Karina have a strong connection, he loves that Grace is grounded in her faith, like him. Grace feels ready to know his decision as she inches closer toward her destination. On the other hand, Karina desperately wants Jay to choose her since she sees a future with him. Meanwhile, Jay declares that his grandad is going to be quite happy with his decision. When he meets Karina, he expresses how, during their first date, she caught him by surprise since they have a lot in common. She also shares that she knew he was going to mean a lot to her when she saw him dancing at the barn dance. However, Jay notes that although Karina adapts well to farm life, the process is challenging.
Jay then breaks the hard news that he feels he has a stronger connection with Grace. Although Karina states they can learn from it and move on, she expresses her sorrow during the exit interview. She says she felt they had a connection and that she foolishly fell in love. Upon meeting Grace, Jay compliments her on how she always lights up the room she walks into. Similarly, she notes that he has all the qualities she has been looking for. Although he expresses concerns about whether she’s truly ready to move to Alabama, he reveals that she is indeed his person. As Grace agrees to take the next step in their relationship, they share a sweet kiss, sealing the deal. In her confessional, she states that Jay has shown her how she should be treated right. She is also surprised when the farmer calls her the love of his life before presenting her with an adorable pup, prompting her to note that she is exactly where she belongs.
On Colton’s farm, the farmer reveals he has spent sleepless nights deciding since he has two great ladies. While Zoe would make him a smarter person, he has fun hanging out with Keeley. However, he has to make the decision that is also best for his son. Meanwhile, Keeley is ready to settle down since Colton made her feel sure of herself. On the other hand, Zoe can visualize herself falling in love with the farmer. As Keeley arrives, Colton opens up about how her red hair had caught his attention the first time. However, he states that although she opened up a lot during the process, he is afraid he will not be able to give her what she deserves. Colton explains that he debated how much time a relationship with her would take away from him and his son. So, he is not the best person for her.
Emotions Run High With Bittersweet Goodbyes and Romantic Surprises
Keeley expresses that it is okay for Colton to pick his son, but she is glad he is not going to choose anyone else. However, she becomes disappointed when the farmer explains that he is choosing Zoe, if she will have him, because she also wants to take things slow. Keeley bluntly states that although Zoe is fabulous, she feels heartbroken. After her departure, Colton tells the producers that he believes he didn’t clearly express what he meant to say because he completely blanked out. When Zoe arrives, he confesses that she has surprised him the most out of everyone. Colton states he is concerned about a long-distance relationship since she still has two years to complete her studies. However, he wants to make it work with her if she is also willing to do so. As she agrees to his proposal, they share a loving kiss, marking the start of a potential future.
Meanwhile, John divulges how the experience has tested and even taught him about himself. While his connection with Lily feels like a romantic movie, he can be completely himself around Claire despite their different opinions. The former loves her and the farmer’s strong connection, adding that he has brought out a side of her she loves. Likewise, Claire feels her friendship with John has changed to a romantic connection she never expected. With Lily’s arrival, John praises her by saying that her smile always lights up the room, and she has no trouble making friends. He believes she can make someone happy, but it is not him. Although she thanks him for everything, she breaks down during her exit interview. Claire confesses that this is harder than she thought and is pleasantly surprised by his decision.
As Claire steps before John, he confesses it has been a wild ride. Although they have different outlooks on life, they still work well together. He acknowledges that the saying “opposites attract” is indeed true in their case. John further expresses his admiration for her calming presence, which makes him quite happy whenever she is around. He jokes that although farmwork is not her forte, it does not matter. Claire gladly agrees to continue their relationship. However, she playfully points out how their initial conversation was horrible. The only saving grace was the scarf she had crocheted for him. He surprises her with the same scarf, only for her to reveal that she has now also crocheted a cap for him to match. He places the scarf around her shoulders as a romantic gesture before they literally ride off into the sunset together.
The Journey of the Four Farmers Ends With Love, Closure, and New Beginnings
Matt notes that he connected with Jordyn from the very first day. On the other hand, he finds Chelsi to be a very special woman. They understand each other quite well, and he can see a future with her. While Chelsi confesses that she has started falling for Matt, Jordyn feels confident that she and the farmer are on the same page. When the latter arrives, Matt tells her she has been everything he’s looking for. However, he feels he has a stronger connection with Chelsi. This upsets Jordyn, who points out that Matt has led her on when he said that she was more than a friend. Matt insists that he meant every word he said, but she departs by wishing him all the best. In her exit interview, she bluntly expresses her anger, saying she truly hoped he would choose her in the end.
As Chelsi arrives, Matt compliments her on how gorgeous she looks and says he is happy they started slowly. Chelsi also states she loves his passionate nature and how similar their personalities are. He finally confesses that he appreciates her so much, he can’t imagine taking the next step with anyone else. As they share an emotional hug, Chelsi delightedly remarks that she was confident that Matt would choose her. She is happy with the outcome and does not want the good times to ever stop. As all four new couples take the next step towards their future, they are more excited than ever to find out where this path leads them.
