In Fox’s ‘Farmer Wants a Wife,’ hardworking farmers welcome new ladies into their farms in hopes of finding everlasting love. In season 4, three such farmers, Sean Cavanaugh, Brett Maverick, and Braden Pridemore, embark on this journey, guided by the host, Kimberly Williams-Paisley. Episode 4, titled ‘A Kiss Changes Everything,’ kicks off with the continuation of the afterparty dance in Maryland. While some women begin forming stronger bonds that ignite undeniable sparks, others are forced to confront painful goodbyes that change the course of the journey.
Emotional Goodbyes Shake the Farms While Stronger Bonds Take Center Stage
As the dancing continues, Brett reveals that Heather approached him and shared her decision to leave, expressing her concerns. The farmer agrees with her choice since he also felt they didn’t have the connection and appreciates her willingness to step up. In the meantime, Macey pulls Sean aside and asks about his decision to bring Rheanna back, even though he said he wouldn’t. He explains that he doesn’t want the girl to think he said anything untrue because he wanted to give the new woman the opportunity to get to know him. When Macey expresses concern about forming a connection in a group of five, he reassures her that he wants to spend time with her. Sean eventually takes her to the dance floor, where he emphasizes that he likes her.

The focus then shifts to Braden and Casey, and she realizes that her feelings for him are growing with each passing second. Since he has already given her words of affirmation, she feels good. In his confessional, Sean remarks that Macey made him realize he has only a limited amount of time to get to know all the women on his farm because he likes them and doesn’t want to lead them on. Brett feels similarly and only wants to focus on the girls he has formed connections with. He begins to wonder how he will navigate everything after deciding to bring Sophia back to the farm. Meanwhile, Sean takes Alibeth aside and tells her she’s been quieter than the others throughout the process, and he thinks the bond between them isn’t as strong as he wants it to be.
Alibeth quickly explains that it’s not in her personality to push herself on a guy. After she bids everyone goodbye, the farmer notes that he has made a good decision. In her exit interview, Alibeth states that this experience has been nothing but pushing herself out of her comfort zone. The spotlight then falls on Cassi and Brett, where the farmer explains that in a different scenario, the bond between them might have worked out. She acknowledges that he has a better connection with the other girls. After expressing her respect for Brett, Cassi ultimately walks away. In her exit interview, she grows emotional because her end goal was to find love with Brett, but it’s hard since she is going home after such a fun experience.
Sean’s Kiss With Emily Sparks Discussions Among the Women on the Farm
The night continues as Brittney and Braden immerse themselves in dance. She feels relieved to talk to him about Carsyn. She had been worried about how he would manage it, but she is happy that he handled the situation maturely. Meanwhile, Brett is dancing with Hanna, whose feelings for him have become stronger. She divulges that she is a guarded person when it comes to relationships because she has been cheated on in the past. She tells Brett that he now makes her feel comfortable, and his presence is calming. Right after, Sean takes Emily aside for a conversation because he feels an undeniable chemistry between them from the beginning. They take a walk outside, during which he explains that he doesn’t want her to perceive him as a liar because he said one thing and did another.

Sean reassures Emily that he wants to spend more time with her to see where it can lead in the future. In that emotional moment, they end up sharing a passionate kiss. As the night finally comes to an end, the time for the farmers to make a decision about who they want to invite for the next solo date finally arrives. After much deliberation, Brett invites Hanna for the solo date while Braden asks Brittney. Lastly, Sean chooses Emily, making her elated. By the following morning, the new ladies begin settling onto the farms of their respective farmers. The focus first shifts to Schyler, who is adjusting to the dynamic on Braden’s farm. After the lady speaks about her walk to the group the previous day, everyone asks Carsyn about what she is feeling. Carsyn admits that she is unsettled because Braden asked her about the girls’ relationship inside the house.
Carsyn adds that she is confused about why the topic has come up, because from the outside, everything seems fine. Casey and Brittney quickly confess that they had both expressed concern about Carsyn’s intentions toward Braden, even though she has a good heart. It makes Carsyn very angry, as she reveals that throughout her pageant experience, several false things were said about her. She continues that having those feelings come up again and hearing these things is upsetting to her. Back at Sean’s farm, the other girls discuss the kiss that the farmer and Emily shared the previous night. Olivia feels deeply hurt by it, while the other girls feel Emily did it on purpose because she knew the other women could see the kiss. They believe that Emily knows what she did and is being strategic.
Brett, Sean, and Braden Finally Embark on Their Meaningful Solo Dates
Since Olivia and Sean haven’t talked much since their date, she calls him aside to make sure he knows she really likes him. Upon learning about it, the farmer reassures her that the connection between them isn’t fading away. Olivia then informs him that she feels Emily is slightly strategic. After Olivia leaves him behind to join the other women, he decides he needs to speak with Emily about it. In the meantime, Brett takes Hanna on a shopping date in Corinth, Mississippi, which is close to his heart. He is a little reserved, but today he really wants to have fun with her. After spending an incredible time laughing and goofing around together, Brett takes her to a restaurant, hoping to find out whether she wants the same things he does.

When asked about her next 2-year plan, Hanna reveals she wants to continue her career and have someone like her father support her on that journey. It turns out that she had compromised a lot in a previous relationship, but the person didn’t choose her. Brett states that if a person makes someone guarded, it isn’t an ideal relationship. Hanna discloses that, coming into the experience, she had walls around her. However, the more time she spends with him, the more she feels he is someone she can see herself being in a relationship with. After they leave the eatery, the pair ultimately shares a loving kiss. Meanwhile, Sean takes Emily to a vineyard for their date, during which he asks her about her last relationship. She divulges that it ended in April because, as time passed, she realized she and her ex-partner were moving in different directions.
Emily feels she is born to be a wife and a mother, which makes Sean happy because he is also traditional. While she sees opening up to each other as the beginning of falling in love, he considers the date just a reaffirmation of their connection. However, he continues thinking about Olivia’s comment regarding Emily. The spotlight then falls on Braden, who takes Brittney to Curtis Orchard for a unique date. It is a place he has been coming to since childhood. In his confessional, he admits that he has brought Brittney because in the last mixer, she really showed that she is here for him. As the duo begins filling the containers with apple cider, Braden observes their undeniable attraction and connection. He hopes Brittney can really see her future on the farm.
Lingering Emotions Result in Carsyn’s Emotional Exit From the Farm
Brittney begins to wonder about the challenges her relationship with Braden could face, since she lives in Utah. When they finally sit down for the conversation, she asks him if he is comfortable with a long-distance relationship, because she can succeed in her career only if she stays in the city. Braden confesses that it’s not ideal, but the only deal-breaker for him is if she cannot see a life on the farm. However, he emphasizes that he will make it work somehow. As they share a romantic kiss, Brittney notes that she can see herself kissing him for the rest of her life. In the meantime, while sipping wine, Sean informs Emily that some of the other girls feel that she is very strategic.

Emily observes that she may have upset the others by gravitating toward the farmer in the group or giving him too much attention. However, she cannot fathom the strategy behind it because it is her way of showing interest in Sean and getting to know him. He appreciates how she has handled everything so far and begins to see a possible future in her. After he takes her to an incredible location to see the sunset, they share a memorable kiss. In Braden’s farm, Carsyn finally approaches the farmer and reveals that she has been defending herself against accusations her entire life.
Carsyn mentions what the others had told him about her intentions, and she feels he hasn’t given her much reassurance since the incident. She elaborates that she has always struggled with situations like this. Since she doesn’t think she can recover from this, she decides to leave the farm and be with the people she loves most. After Braden bids farewell to Carsyn, he confesses that he wants her to be happy, but letting go feels difficult because they had a connection. In her exit interview, she states that all the girls are competing for something, and it can heighten emotions.
The Shift in the Dynamics at Brett’s Farm Drives Stephanie to Say Goodbye
Once the focus shifts to Brett’s farm, Hanna reveals details about her solo date with the farmer before the other women. When she asks Stephanie and Sophia how they feel about not getting much one-on-one time with Brett, Stephanie says she doesn’t want to rush things. In her confessional, Stephanie adds that she wants to be pursued just like her father pursued her mother. Shortly after, the farmer gathers the women around and shows them the correct way to chop wood. It is revealed that his grandfather owned a logging company, and Brett grew up around cutting wood.

As every woman begins following his instructions, Sophia notices the difference between his interactions with the others and hers. Sophia feels that since the others have already built a connection with Brett, she will try to push for as much time as possible to build a bond. Meanwhile, Stephanie begins to feel aloof because, although the farmer has great qualities, she really wants to be pursued. Ultimately, she pulls him away from the others and emotionally tells him that it’s hard not to know what’s going through his head. She feels she doesn’t get enough time to speak with him.
Moreover, Stephanie points out that she expected he would have at least given her a chance, but she hasn’t seen that. When Brett tries to clarify that it’s hard to be around four or five people, she declares that it’s time for her to go home. It makes him quite sad since she loves hard, cares deeply, and deserves much more. Stephanie then informs the other girls about her departure. In her exit interview, she says she has waited 31 years for a husband but hasn’t found a perfect match. Yet Stephanie knows there is someone out there who will always pursue her. After watching her leave, Brett notes that it’s always hard to say goodbye to somebody he cares about.
