Fisk Season 3 Recap
The season begins with hilarious troubles surrounding the new and loud coffee machine Helen brought into the office. Amidst the loud noises, “Gruber and Fisk” continues to hunt for more clients. Ray reveals he’s in a relationship with a woman named Melissa from “Copeland Business and Breakfast Group.” The romance leads him to cancel his membership in the group, as members aren’t allowed to date within the circle. Helen gets elected as the new member of the group, while also dealing with the new responsibility of networking in her role as a partner at Gruber and Fisk. She also has run-ins with her neighbor Murray, who keeps mowing lawns in the neighborhood. Roz poaches George from Gruber and Fisk and asks him to join her at Conch Meditation Services.
George temporarily brings in his grandma, Lily, to cover for him at Gruber and Fisk. Meanwhile, a financial advisor named Stefan Bogdanovic pressures Helen and Ray to get him clients. The protagonist’s inheritance is handled after Viktor, in Tony’s presence, signs a document to be her adoptive father. Due to the arguments involved in mediation, George goes back to his old job and asks his tough grandma to take the mediation services stint with Roz. However, she hilariously quits it later due to boredom. The protagonist helps out Melcome, the man who used to work at Blendology previously, to negotiate terms regarding his dead father’s will. Meanwhile, Bubby, Melissa’s son, joins as a mediator at Conch Services and starts to annoy his boss, Roz, due to his carelessness and casual attitude.
However, in a funny twist, the vape-addicted boy quits due to boredom, just like Lily. A bomb threat to Roz’s life forces everyone at Conch, as well as Gruber and Fisk, to relocate temporarily to a new workspace called Copeland Business Hub to keep the firms running. Meanwhile, Tony prepares for the launch of his new memoir called “Nothing But Judgement.” After the threat is exposed as a farce, the team gets back to their old office space.
On a particularly eventful day at work, Helen struggles to speak sense to weird clients who make unreasonable demands regarding wills, but Ray draws everyone’s attention when he proposes to Melissa in front of the whole office. However, she refuses due to the unexpected nature of her lover’s actions. Helen tries to help the Gruber siblings out of their psychological problems, following which Ray announces that he’s adopting Bubby. However, the team is shocked when Ray announces that he is leaving the business.
Fisk Season 3 Ending: Does Roz Save Gruber and Fisk From Furstenberg Grey? Why?
Roz Gruber likes to be in command of situations, be it at the personal front or the professional. Her character arc goes through many twists and turns in the season. Due to her disinterest in purely legal matters, she gives up her position at Gruber and Fisk and starts “Conch Mediation Services” to work as a mediator and pursue a different dream. However, her foray into the world of mediation leads her to question her choices. She finds it difficult to tolerate the silliness of people and the issues they fight about. She tries to poach George from her brother’s firm to work with her, but is unable to convince him to stay. She negotiates with complex characters and recognizes that mediation is not as easy or interesting as she expected. This leads her towards an important decision that can either make or break her future.
After learning that Ray wants to quit his legal career and sell Gruber and Fisk, she makes up her mind to buy her brother’s firm and save it from being acquired by the bigger firm called “Furstenberg Grey.” Despite Ray’s insistence on selling the firm to the bigger player, she steps in at the right time and offers to buy the firm and keep the family legacy intact. There are strong reasons behind her decision, ranging from personal to professional.
On the personal level, she presumably feels comfortable working at the firm she has known for a long time. At the professional front, she makes the decision to return to the legal field and utilize her experience as an expert in wills and probate matters. Her skills as a lawyer and her not-so-successful journey in the field of mediation, with the addition of familial ties, enabled her to make the crucial decision. With Ray out of the picture, she can also make independent choices at the firm and run it according to her own standards.
Does Helen Leave Gruber and Fisk?
Helen Fisk struggles throughout her character arc to find meaning in her life. She initially joined Gruber and Fisk as a last resort. However, she eventually started to like her job and also gained self-respect, due to her involvement in complex cases. When she finally finds a footing in her career, she is shocked by Ray’s decision to quit his legal career and sell the firm to Furstenberg Grey. The protagonist expresses strong disappointment on hearing this decision and starts to worry about her future. Despite Ray’s assurance that the bigger firm will let her keep her job after the question, she finds it difficult to trust it.
Helen’s worst fears come true when the interview panel of the bigger firm, headed by Debbie Lim, refuses to let her keep her job because of her notorious past at her former firm, Peacock and Lee, where she was fired for verbally abusing a client. She is dejected after realizing that she will no longer be able to do anything meaningful in her life, especially given the fact that she had started to really like her role at Gruber and Fisk. However, in an almost miraculous turn of events, she is relieved to hear that Roz will be buying the firm, instead of Furstenberg Grey.
After Roz’s acquisition, Helen is able to return to her role as a partner with the new owner respectfully. The two women keep the name of the firm intact and continue their independent journeys into greater prospects. Helen Fisk’s imploding career is saved at the right time by Roz, who becomes an unlikely friend to the protagonist. At the very end of the season, Helen and Roz post a promotional video online, wherein they speak about the future of their business and the empowerment of women in the legal field. Not only does the main character stay at Gruber and Fisk, but she also manages to get a bigger role in it, which is essential for the future of the firm.
Why Does Ray Sell Gruber and Fisk?
Ray undergoes the trials and tribulations of love in the third season, due to his romantic involvement with Melissa. Despite his commitment to his firm, he finds it difficult to manage his love life and his professional side. In a pivotal moment in the season, Ray expresses that Melissa wants him to leave the legal field forever and help her expand her business, Sassy Socks. However, the team, especially Helen, appears to be unprepared to let him go or ruin the future of Gruber and Fisk. Melissa’s interference in his professional life causes him to abandon the firm and chase a more stable future with his partner instead. His decision to get engaged to his lover only adds to his resolve to quit his career in law.
Ray’s connections to Furstenberg Grey also make it easier for him to sell the firm to a bigger player and secure the future of his employees. It is also made clear in the season that Ray isn’t as involved at Gruber and Fisk compared to others like Helen or George. Instead, he chooses to keep himself away from complex cases. His wavering passion towards his job and his emotional dynamics with Melissa combine to lure him towards the pivotal decision. He sells the firm towards the end of the season to his sister Roz, who saves it from being overrun by external entities.
It can be presumed that Ray’s decision was practical, as he no longer had the rhythm to keep being a solicitor or conduct complex discussions with people. Despite selling the firm, he presumably leaves it in a better place because he chose family over greed and sold it to Roz. He can now focus on improving his relationship with Melissa and also pursue a different future. Ray selling the firm to his sister is one of the most important plot points in the season, as it sets up an intriguing future for the wills and probate firm.
