Flunked Season 2 Plot and Cast Theories

Eddy’s story in ‘Flunked’ season 1 ends with a vague conclusion that leaves much unanswered about the protagonist’s fate. By the end of the narrative, the con man, who is posing as a math teacher as a part of an undercover police investigation, comes to truly love and cherish his job as an educator. Simultaneously, he also learns that Detective Lucie had been duping him this entire time and that she has no real intentions of erasing his criminal past in exchange for his help. Instead, she has only ever planned to reduce his seven-year sentence to a two-year one.

Therefore, while the cop remains occupied with apprehending her coveted target, drug dealer Sagirov, Eddy goes on the run, earning his freedom even if it is at the cost of a fugitive status. Moreover, he discovers far too late that one of his students, Oceane, has hitched a ride in his van’s backseat, effectively intertwining their fates for the future. Where exactly this future leads the duo remains to be seen in a potential future continuation. However, this continuation unfortunately hasn’t been renewed by Netflix as of yet. Still, if a renewal comes soon enough, the show could return for a season 2 as early as 2028.

Flunked Season 2 Could Expand on Eddy’s Passion For Teaching

In season 1, ‘Flunked’ pushes Eddy into the role of an educator through an elaborate scheme. As the season comes to an end, the protagonist grows disillusioned by the false promises of this scheme but discovers a yet untapped love for teaching. Even though his days at the Charles Baudelaire High School are few, in that time, he repeatedly puts his own life at risk and goes out of his way to help his students. Thus, he ultimately comes to appreciate the rewarding profession of being an educator and shaping young minds. However, in the end, he has to flee the city of Lille and pursue a new start elsewhere.

Therefore, a potential season 2 could focus on the aftermath of Eddy’s escape. If he succeeds and slips through Lucie’s wily clutches, the next season could find him in a new city where he has willfully chosen to continue teaching under a new name and identity. Alternatively, if the show wants to retain its original format, Lucie can ultimately foil Eddy’s escape and compel him to run another investigation where his undercover prowess is needed. Either way, given the show’s focus on highlighting the reality of a teacher’s life, fans can expect season 2 to find another way of pitching Eddy into an educator’s role to maintain a cohesive thematic narrative.

Flunked Season 2 Can Bring Back a Lot of the Original Cast

As a comedy series, ‘Flunked’ thrives on the offbeat characterizations and zany interpersonal dynamics that feed into the show’s humorous identity. Therefore, the show can be expected to continue revolving around many of the same characters in the event of a future continuation. Alexandre Kominek will likely reprise his role as the protagonist, Eddy, remaining at the center of the narrative. Likewise, given Lucie’s connection to the conman-turned-teacher, Laurence Arné’s character can also be expected to make a comeback. Similarly, Eddy is last seen as the dubious, but sole, guardian of Oceane, his teenage student who falsely believes him to be his father.

As such, while a possible departure from Charles Baudelaire High School could prevent the show from including the characters of the other students, Oceane could potentially make a comeback. On a similar note, if Eddy parts his ways with the Lille high school for good, many of the teachers present in season 1 could be written out of the show. However, Leslie Medina’s Tiphaine could always reprise her role due to the strong, emotionally significant role she plays in Eddy’s life. Ultimately, depending on the direction of the future season(s), the show could bring back a sizeable portion of the original cast members or introduce new characters into the storyline.

Flunked Season 2 Can Further Develop Eddy and Oceane’s Offbeat Relationship

Eddy’s narrative comes to an end with a number of satisfying conclusions and one bizarre new development. As a part of his and Lucie’s investigation into Sagirov, the couple had buzzed around Oceane, who is revealed to be the drug dealer’s secret daughter. However, the latter is unaware of this part of her parentage. Therefore, she mistakes Eddy’s eccentric behavior for a sign that he is her actual biological father. For the sake of the investigation, he and Lucie go along with the misunderstanding, letting the young girl believe the lie.

For the same reason, in the end, after Eddy saves Oceane from the clutches of Sagirov and instructs her to return home, she ends up stowing away inside his van. The teacher finds out about it too late. Still, given his new fugitive status and the multiple cop barricades around him, he has no choice but to let her tag along as he skips town. This means the duo’s paths have now become inextricably intertwined. However, their dynamic is built on a lie. Therefore, season 2 could explore the real father-daughter connection Eddy has with the teenager and how the truth about his deceit will eventually affect their relationship.
