It was July 5, 2018, when everything turned upside down for the Farris family in Cherokee County, Georgia, as patriarch Gary Wayne Farris was found brutally murdered. As explored in NBC’s ‘Dateline: A Little Patch of Perfect’ and CBS’ ’48 Hours: The Ferris Wheel,’ the initial assumption was that the 58-year-old attorney had accidentally fallen into a fire pit. However, as time passed, it came to light that it was Gary’s wife of 38 years and the mother of his 4 children who killed him over greed, leaving the latter shattered to the core.
Chris Farris is a Hard Worker and a Family Man
While it’s true that Gary and his firstborn Christopher “Chris” Farris had their differences in the months leading up to the fateful day, they did share a rather incredible bond. The patriarch did threaten to cut off his son by changing all his bank account information upon noticing the expenses he was paying off using his father’s money, but they also spoke of the important things, like family. Therefore, when Gary suddenly disappeared, only to be found dead in a fire pit, Chris couldn’t even begin to imagine who would hurt his father this way.
Therefore, Chris fully cooperated with the authorities and even asked his siblings the hard questions because he knew they would too, ultimately leading to the arrest of their mother for murder. Since then, he has done his best to move forward in life to the best of his abilities, all the while keeping his father, his legacy, and his lessons alive in his heart. As a happily married father of two now-adult daughters, he candidly even concedes that if he is even half the dad his father was, he’d be doing a good job.
From what we can tell, Chris has been with his partner, the love of his life, Kellie Long Mullinax, for a long while, and together, they share two grown-up daughters, Addison Marrie Farris and Ella Farris. Coming to his personal standing, it appears as if the Atlanta, Georgia, based golfing and fishing enthusiast currently serves as a Sales and Estimating Representative at Alpha Insulation & Waterproofing. He has held this job since the summer of 2024, but prior to this, he was the Commercial and Residential Project Manager at Bravo Painting Company (2022-2024), the Founder/Owner of his own company, Farris Painting LLC (2015-2022), and a General Manager at Panda Painting (2008-2015).
Scott Farris is Gradually Moving Forward in Life
As the second son of Gary and Melody Farris and their only child who resided in an apartment on their 10-acre property to work in the barn, Scott Farris was one of the suspects in the murder. After all, like with Chris, he and his father had had their fair share of disagreements about money, but officials soon ruled him out despite thinking some of his actions in the immediate aftermath of the matter were strange. However, when his mother faced court for the charges against her, she and her attorneys placed the entire blame on him, accusing him of killing Greg and then framing her so as to walk away scott free. They actually accused him of “Mooching” off of his father before also making some additional terrible allegations, but to no avail, as there was no evidence against him.
Thus, it comes as no surprise that Scott no longer considers Meloy his mother and is glad that they now finally have some sense of closure with her having been convicted and sentenced for murder in 2024. Since the incident in 2018, though, from what we can tell, the army vet has relocated from the property to his own place in Dahlonega, Georgia, where he is happily settled with a partner. They reportedly began dating around 2019, three years after which he got down on one knee and popped the question, to which she obviously said yes. He and Rebecca Day currently seem to be planning their nuptials and their happily ever after, and they seem perfectly content. So, we only wish them the best of luck for the years to come and can’t wait to see what’s next for them.
Emily Farris-Payne Has Found a Balance Between Being a Career Woman, Wife, and Mother
According to the aforementioned original production, Emily was arguably the closest to her father among all her siblings, despite the fact that her husband was accused of stealing from him too. Hence, during the investigations and the court proceedings against their mother, she did not shy away from sharing what she knew because she wanted true justice to be served, which she now believes has been. All these years have undeniably been hard on her, owing to the way her entire family just shattered apart following the fateful day, but she has done her best to pick up the pieces and find some normalcy in her career, her own family, and loved ones.
There was once a time when this University of Alabama Public Relations graduate served as a Personal Banker at Wells Fargo, but then she moved on to be a Compliance and HR Coordinator at Cygnus Capital Real Estate Advisors. However, not long after she relocated to Franklin, Tennessee, where she landed the position of HR Assistant and later HR Generalist at STAR Physical Therapy, only to currently serve as an HR Specialist at Outpatient Imaging Affiliates. She actually does so while residing in Spring Hill, Tennessee, with her loving husband, her two young children – a boy and a girl – and their fur babies. She seems to have found a way to juggle all these roles without adversely affecting any aspect of her life, which is a feat in itself, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.
Amanda Farris Prefers to Keep Away From the Limelight
Amanda Farris is the youngest of the Farris siblings and was once also the most vocal regarding their family’s dysfunction. She didn’t hesitate to cooperate with officials, yet she wholeheartedly believed in her mother’s innocence. In fact, she even testified in her defense during her trial for murder by telling the jury that it was her brother, Scott, who had an unusual fixation with his parents’ country estate. She essentially indicated that he could have killed their father in greed, but their mother was not like that. In the end, all Scott could say in the NBC original episode was that she had been manipulated and brainwashed by their mother, but he still hoped all siblings could one day come together as a unit again. As for Amanda’s personal or professional standing, she has chosen to keep her experiences far away from prying eyes ever since Gary’s murder in 2018, so unfortunately, we do not know much about the same. Nevertheless, we wish her the best for everything.
