In an interview with Firstpost, Konkona Sen Sharma, who plays Geetika in the movie, spoke about the nature of her character. She said, “The attempt is to portray a complex, nuanced human being with some depth. Everybody has different sexual orientations or many other complexities. We do not have to focus on her coming from a queer community. Of course, that happens to be the fundamental identity of hers. But that’s not her only identity. There are many other identities of hers.” Geetika is a complex character who has several layers and deals with multiple issues simultaneously. Ultimately, she is a deeply human, flawed, and authentic character whose struggles resonate with the viewers.
Chapelstone General Hospital is Intricately Connected to Geetika Sen’s Struggles
Chapelstone General Hospital (CGH) is an imaginary hospital that sheds light on the various issues that workplaces deal with when they are in the middle of handling consequential cases related to sexual abuse. Geetika’s fate is closely tied to how the hospital treats her after the accusation. In the story, CGH takes cognizance of the anonymous emails against Geetika and takes necessary action as the situation demands. The HR department places Geetika on paid leave and ensures that she doesn’t interfere with the investigation. The hospital’s executive board also appoints a retired journalist named Bhargav to neutrally investigate Geetika’s case. In the real world, workplaces often go through a crisis when one of their employees faces serious allegations. Especially in the medical field, ethical principles take precedence.
We see examples of medical professionals being fired over negligence, but Geetika’s case is far more sensitive, as it is connected to the rights of the patients. CGH becomes a battleground where former interns and patients of Geetika try to end her career. Through the happenings at CGH, the film also portrays the puzzling realities of workplace politics and professional egos that play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of several people. According to a 2026 report from WDRB, a southern Indiana doctor was fired by Norton Healthcare and had his state license suspended after multiple patients leveled accusations of sexual misconduct and abuse against him.
There could be several such cases across the world, where hospitals have to take strict actions against those involved in sexual abuse. CGH deals with a similar issue, as it is forced to take harsh steps against Geetika. All in all, CGH represents difficult realities faced by hospitals when they have to deal with the alleged sexual misconduct of one of their own.
