Where are Geno and Nico Now? Update on My 600-lb Life Stars

TLC’s ‘My 600-lb Life’ often brings deeply personal weight-loss struggles to light, showing how weight, trauma, and relationships are deeply intertwined. In Season 11, cousins Geno Dacunto and Nico Martone took on the challenge of transforming their lives together. Rather than tackling their health issues in isolation, they leaned on one another throughout the process. Their shared history and mutual understanding created a space where honesty, patience, and growth could thrive. Whether it was adjusting their diets, going to appointments, or keeping each other mentally focused, their journey underscored the strength found in the family.

Geno and Nico Went Through the Surgical Procedure Together

Geno Dacunto’s early years were mostly happy, but things began to unravel when his father developed a drug dependency. According to his mother, while Geno never witnessed his father intoxicated, the overall environment became unstable, prompting her to make a difficult decision. By the time he was 12, his parents had divorced, and he moved in with his mother for a more stable upbringing. Obesity had been a longstanding issue in their family, and his mother herself underwent bariatric surgery at 36. However, she admitted that their household never emphasized dieting or monitoring food habits and believed that imposing strict rules around eating didn’t align with their family dynamic.

After completing high school, Geno enrolled in culinary school to pursue his passion for food. However, around the age of 22, he suffered a major emotional setback when his father passed away. Struggling with grief, he turned to food for comfort, which led to significant weight gain. While working at a restaurant, he was involved in an accident that caused serious knee injuries. Unfortunately, due to his size, he was unable to find a medical facility equipped with an MRI machine that could accommodate him. This lack of proper diagnosis and care worsened his condition. As his mobility declined, he decided to move back in with his mother. During this time, his health deteriorated further, and everyday activities like walking or maintaining personal hygiene became increasingly difficult.

Realizing the toll his weight was taking on his life, Geno ultimately made the decision to pursue bariatric surgery in hopes of reclaiming control over his health and future. He always had the steady presence of his cousin, Nico Martone, throughout his journey. Recognizing the importance of making a serious change, the two decided to relocate to Houston, Texas, to begin their transformation together. Nico, weighing 430 lbs at the time, chose to support Geno not just emotionally but by joining the same program and committing to undergoing bariatric surgery himself. Geno started at 684 lbs, and together, they focused on meeting the initial weight loss requirements to qualify for surgery. Their teamwork and mutual accountability paid off, as they both successfully underwent surgery one after the other.

Geno Dacunto is Surrounded by the Love of His Family and Friends

Since appearing on the season, Geno Dacunto has continued on a path of self-reflection and recovery. A proud graduate of Johnson & Wales University, he earned his degree in Culinary Arts in 2013 and was dedicated to working on his deep passion for food and hospitality. Before his health complications took center stage, he worked at the well-known Silver Sands Restaurant, where he was able to use his culinary skills in a professional setting. Though he’s not currently employed in the food industry, his background remains a defining part of his identity and something he hopes to reconnect with when the time feels right.

Geno currently resides in his hometown of New Haven, Connecticut, where he’s surrounded by strong family support. His mother, Rhonda, and his uncle, Mike, have remained by his side throughout his journey and offer both emotional and practical support. Despite the challenges he’s faced, his personality continues to shine. Those close to him describe him as cheerful, grounded, and always quick with a smile. His warm and resilient spirit hasn’t gone unnoticed. After his appearance on the season, he received an outpouring of support from viewers across the country, with a particularly strong wave of encouragement coming from his Italian-American community. Their backing has been meaningful to him, reinforcing a sense of belonging and pride in his heritage.

In terms of his personal life, Geno appears to be single at the moment. However, in early May 2025, reports suggest he was briefly dating a woman named Jessica Michelle. Although the relationship seems to have ended, he appears content and at peace with where he is emotionally. While he hasn’t publicly shared recent updates about his weight loss progress, those familiar with him note that he seems healthier, more active, and in better spirits. He probably still enjoys quiet pastimes like fishing, something he’s loved since childhood, and he continues to embrace life with a positive outlook.

Nico Martone is Working at an Elementary School Today

Since his journey on the season alongside his cousin, Nico Martone has truly embraced a lifestyle that celebrates health, love, and community. Now living in Northford, Connecticut, Nico has built a stable and rewarding life for himself, both personally and professionally. He works as a custodian at Mary T. Murphy Elementary School, a role that, while often behind the scenes, plays a vital part in the daily functioning of the school. From maintaining clean and safe learning environments for students to ensuring that the school facilities operate smoothly, his work is deeply appreciated by both staff and students. It’s a position that keeps him active and connected to his community in a meaningful way.

Educationally, Nico is a proud alum of Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School in New Haven, where he likely nurtured his creative side. He also attended Gateway Community and Technical College, giving him a well-rounded background as he moved into adulthood. In his personal life, he has found great joy and companionship. On May 11, 2024, he married Rose Martone, his longtime girlfriend, and the couple has since shared a vibrant, loving partnership. Together, they spend time cooking at Neek’s Kitchen, a family-owned establishment run by Rose’s relatives.

Nico and Rose enjoy going out, spending time with their families, and hosting fun gatherings. One standout event was their nostalgic ’90s-themed Jack n’ Jill Party in May 2024, hosted at the Italian American Club. Nico also continues to be committed to his weight loss journey. While he doesn’t share frequent updates online, those close to him say he’s doing well, maintaining a healthier lifestyle, and remaining consistent with the habits he began during the show. He and Rose live with their beloved dog, Sway, who brings a lot of joy and energy into their home.
